Mimi Andani Discloses Reasons For Ending Her Marriage

Mimi Andani

Former Ghanaian Big Brother Africa housemate and entrepreneur, Mimi Adani, has spoken about the cause of her divorce after six years of marriage.

She said the divorce was a result of emotional and mental abuse, narcissistic behavior from her ex-husband, manipulation, and excessive cheating.

Mimi explained that most women tend to kill themselves slowly in abusive and unhappy marriages because people say women should not talk about their marital issues or for their children’s sake, which to her doesn’t make sense. She feels as though most women are sacred to leave abusive marriages because they’re not empowered financially.

“For me, it was emotional abuse; there was cheating as well, manipulation, and narcissistic traits, which are very dangerous. I couldn’t survive it; I tried, but I couldn’t, so I had to just move on; it’s as simple as that. There was no physical abuse or anything like that, but cheating and narcissism were the causes of my problems, and they were affecting me mentally,” she revealed.

The actress does not see divorce as a good thing but thinks it’s necessary when there is unbearable silent suffering. Mimi believes that a woman can’t force a successful marriage when she knows her union is failing.

“I also think that women who don’t empower themselves are always scared to leave the marriage, even when they are abused emotionally because if they go back to their parents’ houses to complain, they’ll push them back and ask who will take care of the kids. But if you empower yourself like me, I went easy like ABC,” she stated.

Mimi tied the knot with Nana Michaels in 2016 and was blessed with a daughter. Unfortunately, their marriage journey had to come to an end.

Considering her experience, Mimi Andani charged women who are trapped in toxic and abusive marriages to follow in her footsteps and be bold enough to leave, for the betterment of their mental health and that of their children.

Mimi Andani Makes A Confession

Mimi Andani, the CEO of Golden Movie Awards confessed to deceiving the public about the reason for the awards scheme’s hiatus.

In April 2023, Mimi disclosed that she had to hold on to the awards scheme due to the lack of support from corporate Ghana.

The singer who sounded frustrated revealed she did everything within her power to produce a great show worthy of support but had none from sponsors.

“We invested our own money for seven years. We did everything right to make sure companies would come on board but zero! Nobody knows how we do the awards. There’s just no support when it comes to our industry, so how do we go on? As it stands, I don’t think I will organize the Golden Movie Awards again! My money is gone! No company is willing to sponsor me…” she complained.

However, in a quick turn, Mimi Andani admitted that she lied about the reason.

“For the sponsorship reason I gave first, the truth is, it wasn’t the sponsorship. It was that I was getting divorced and so I have to give a nice reason once I go through my divorce. Now that it’s over, I can say that the Golden Movie Awards was not stopped because of sponsorship. It was stopped because there was a disagreement between the founders. One person said that I won’t do it again and then so we have to just… This is some of the disadvantages of partnering with a spouse,” she said.

She further revealed that sponsorship was not going to be a problem since they had built the Golden Movie Awards brand to a topmost level.

Mimi Andani however is hopeful, the Golden Movie Awards will bounce back soon.
