Musicians Have Destroyed Their Careers – Kwame Yogot

Kwame Yogot

Ghanaian artiste, Kwame Yogot, has reiterated the need for musicians to be cautious before endorsing any political party ahead of the 2024 elections.

He disclosed that the careers of most artists have taken a nose-dive because they rushed into making such decisions.

“If you endorse NDC not all Ghanaians love them which would be dividing your fanbase, so I won’t take money that I’ll finish spending it because it’s my career which is at stake,” he said.

“Also, If you also endorse NPP not all Ghanaians like them so you’re dividing your fanbase. I’m not a person who lusts after money neither am I hungry for money. So if a political party is ready to work with me then I have to calculate and find out that what I’m getting myself involved in will affect my career and that one no matter what you do it’ll surely affect your career a bit,” he established.

He also listed the dire consequences associated with messing with politics, and what he intends to do if he find himself in such shoes.

“It might take some time for you to be able to recover and so I’ll also make sure that I’m taking a certain amount of money that even if my career messes up that money will be able to do something substantial for me,” he opined.

According to the rapper, it’ll cost about a billion dollars for him to endorse any of the political organizations who wish to engage his services this election year

“Yeah we all need money but you can take a certain amount of money to endorse a political party but that money will surely get finished. How you want to build yourself, you have to make sure that you are building yourself properly but if I’m to take money to endorse a political party that will be a billion dollars,” he remarked.

“I won’t take an amount like $100,000 because I will finish spending that money so I’ll charge a huge amount that even if my career fades for endorsing a political party I know I have some money somewhere to work with. So any political party who is ready for an endorsement from me must be prepared because they have a lot to pay for my services,” he said

Kwame Yogot disclosed that he did not receive any money from Dr. Bawumia after using his song “Biibi Besi” to campaign during the Assin North by-election.

He revealed that he was against the idea of a political party using his song during their campaign.

“Oh naa I’ve not gotten anything from Dr. Bawumia after he used my song ‘Biibi Besi’ to campaign during the Assin North by-election held last year,” he said.

“My former record label all the people there are big men within the NPP so I don’t know what they are doing if they’ve gone to take money behind my back,” he further added.

He later disclosed that he did not want his song to be used for election campaigns.

“Just recently I had a conversation with the CEO of my former record label and he told me that they’ve brought a certain offer but since then I’ve not heard from anyone again,” he revealed.

“I didn’t even want them to use my song to campaign in the first place and so when he told me I said as for me I’m not interested in those things. But since then I’ve not been updated as to what is happening”, he further noted.
