Odarky Andy Tells Sad Story

Mentor 1 fame, Odarky Andy

Odarky Andy of Mentor 1 fame has revealed that when brands and investors want to work with artists, they go on social media to read comments so he pleads that one should be careful what they write about artists on social media.

He narrated a story about a man, he did not name, who expressed interest in signing him.

Prior to recording a song for him, he revealed that the man did not know what he could do, adding that he recorded several songs and it was sent to him in London.

Impressed by his demonstration of talent, “he had already signed me but I should keep it a secret. He said he had seen my colleague singers were no match for me,” Andy revealed the man said.

Andy further added that he was told to keep the secret from his colleagues otherwise it would discourage them.

“Sometime later, he called me saying he wanted to release my song on digital platforms, where the songs are streamed for money because we didn’t have a contract,” Odarky Anday said, noting he was not pleased.

He noted that the man protested and requested to take the contract to his lawyer and manager in Ghana, adding that the man was angry and complained that he [Andy] behaved like he knew it all.

After this incident, Andy revealed that the man would not pick up his calls, and his colleagues would go out for two days and leave him behind which became so serious that he feared he would be poisoned.

Eventually, Andy said, he informed the man of his intentions to leave Lagos and return to Ghana.

The man protested, saying he wanted to help Andy. According to Andy, this angered him.

“You didn’t find me by the wayside. You saw my talent because of songs and videos online and expressed interest in working with me. It is business so let’s put it on paper and sign, but because he wanted to cheat me, he didn’t want to do it,” Andy Odarky said.

Sometime after that, Odarky Andy disclosed that he was taken to Fela’s Shrine, adding that when he performed at the iconic venue, it blew people away including his colleagues, who, in his words, realized indeed they were no match for him.

“Hence, I told the man I didn’t understand that he wanted to do business with me but rather wanted me to think it was a philanthropic venture. If you do that, you’re being a cheat,” Andy said.

“They opened a laptop, they went on social media and said: ‘Look, your own people, Ghanaians, look at the comments. They are saying your career is dead’. And it’s true they showed it to me,” he said.

Andy bemoaned there were instances where he would release a song.

“The fellow would have nothing to say about the song but will write: ‘Oh, your career is dead’. Or there is a trending issue that you wade into. The moment they showed it to me, I knew there was trouble, and I told myself I was coming back to my Ghana. At least, I am Andy there. You people don’t even value me because of what you’ve seen on social media.”

Fameye To Feature On A Song

Odarky Andy disclosed that it’s been one year since he asked Fameye to feature on a song but it is yet to happen.

Andy was plain to say that he liked him [Fameye] a lot. Also, according to him, he called Fameye to inform him.

“People have been asking that I feature you on a song of mine and even though Fameye sounded enthusiastic about the collaboration, it’s been a year since I sent him the song,” he said.

Revealing the song is his hit ‘Kokonsa’, he appealed to Fameye to stop the procrastination and send in his verse.

Odarky Andy stressed that collaboration is necessary because it’s a request by the fans.

He noted also that the song, which is on the ‘Sweetie’ album, had no video clip and they didn’t promote it.

“The focus had been on the title track, which became a hit after only three weeks upon release,” he said.

The Mentor 1 reality TV star observed with contentment how people on TikTok have really used the Konkonsa song because people enjoy music that rebukes their opponents, and gossip is also common.

Odarky Andy’s latest song is ‘My Prayer’.
