Popular Ghanaian actress, Portia Asare has confirmed rumors of her divorce from her second husband, three years after their marriage in 2021.
The confirmation comes after social media reports in 2023 suggested that her marriage to Raymond Kwaku Marfo had ended, with claims that Marfo was a serial womanizer.
“I am not a quitter. Nothing defeats me except going against the will of God. I am not going to give up just because I’ve been divorced twice. I am not at a disadvantage. The Lord says he will order my steps. He’s the one who tells me where to go.”

The actress also mentioned that she is open to future relationships, stating, “I have a long way to go. I am not ready now, but if marriage comes 10,000 times, I will marry 10,000 times.”
This marks Portia Asare’s second divorce. She was previously married to Pastor John Wilberforce Aidoo in 2013, but that marriage ended before she returned to the public eye in 2019.
In July 2021, she married Raymond Kwaku Marfo in a beautiful traditional wedding ceremony. This follows the collapse of her first marriage to Rev John Wilberforce Aidoo, with who she said she was very unhappy.
According to the actress, whose marriage ended three years ago before her 2021 wedding, there was no point in staying in the marriage when she was not happy. The news of her second divorce, therefore, comes as a shock to many.
Actress Makes Shocking Revelation About Kumawood
Portia Asare Boateng shed light on the significant challenges facing the Kumawood movie industry.
According to her, the decline of the industry is attributable to internal conflicts and spiritual sabotage.
“People are asking why Kumawood is dead; it is because of hatred! People are using spiritual means to sabotage their colleagues instead of loving and supporting each other,” she said.
Portia Asare Boateng recounted personal experiences of being targeted by some of her colleagues in the industry.
“People I used to eat with, people I trusted, were among those who tried to destroy me using witchcraft. I was shocked. If you kill me, you won’t replace me. Your work is different from someone else’s work. So why are you doing this?”

However, she chose not to name specific individuals involved in these actions. Her candid revelations have sparked reactions from Kumawood movie lovers, who have expressed their sadness over the industry’s decline.
Former TV3 Mentor, 1-star Hakeem, has come forward to back Ghanaian actress Portia Asare’s claims regarding the hostile environment within the Kumawood movie industry.
Hakeem’s support follows Portia Asare’s eye-opener, in which she highlighted various factors contributing to the industry’s decline, including spiritual attacks orchestrated by colleagues.
Reacting to Portia Asare’s interview, Hakeem shared his personal ordeal in the movie industry in the comments section. He shared that his time in Kumawood was short due to similar hostile experiences.
After making a name for himself at TV3’s Mentor, the entertainer went on to feature in multiple movies, including Beyonce, Otan Hunu 1&2, Way3 Afere, Innocent Soul, Power Of A Woman, and A Mother’s Curse, among others.
Reacting to the interview, he wrote: “Hmmm!!! That was the main reason why I exited myself from the Industry.”
Similarly, Dr Likee spoke on hate within the movie industry and how people have tried to sabotage him.
The actor expressed disappointment at the situation, saying that some people, even in his circle, have bad-mouthed him behind his back.
Dr Likee also stated that he still helped the same people who talked badly about him because he does not believe in ‘paying evil with evil’.
