Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale has gone global again, as three of his songs have been featured in a Netflix film created by a Spanish producer.
Shatta Wale’s songs; ‘Ayoo’, ‘My level’, and ‘Mama Stories’ are the songs that have been featured in the movie dubbed ‘Black Beach‘ released on Netflix. This adds to the many international recognitions Shatta Wale has enjoyed since the release of his collaboration with the International superstar, Beyoncé.
An extension of Shatta Wale’s Twitter page announced this and Shatta Wale on his verified Twitter page retweeted it. He thanked his fans for the undying support they have rendered him so far. He further stated that they should celebrate in moments like these because hard work pays.
“God bless every Shatta Movement fan worldwide, enjoy this moment, celebrate for the hard works. ‘Ayoo’, ‘My level’, ‘Mama Stories’ to the world”.
Several fans congratulated him on this achievement and tasked him to work harder since they believed he can achieve more than he already has. Some comments from his post read:
‘Ayoo’ was released in 2017 and it became one of Shatta Wales hit single as lots of people jammed to it. The following year was even bigger as he released ‘My level’ which added to his collections of hit songs. In that same year, he released ‘Mama Stories’ which also reigned in the airspace for a while.
Meanwhile, a 2 minutes video captures a pub scene from the movie where Shatta Wale’s songs were played in the background. Black Beach is an adventurous 2020 movie that is centered on a promising lawyer who is forced to dive deep into his past when he agrees to negotiate with an old friend turned kidnapper. The ‘Black Beach’ movie was directed by Spanish filmmaker Esteban Crespo and it’s now on Netflix.
That notwithstanding, Shatta Wale is not the only Ghanaian to have his music feature on a Netflix movie as Ghanaian highlife musician and record producer, Bisa Kdei, also gained international success when his song, ‘Asew Me Nie’, got featured in a Hollywood movie titled ‘Jingle Jangle’.
Bisa Kdei joined forces with American singers, John Legend and Usher, to work on the colossal Hollywood Christmas project. ‘Asew’, which is the first single off his 2018 ‘Highlife Konnect’ album, was remixed by the singer and renamed ‘Grandpa Me Nie’ for Netflix’s Christmas film. The up-tempo highlife song went viral and many local and international Instagram dancers jumped on it.
