Robert Klah Clarifies Reason Kojo Blak’s ‘Excellent’ Was Snubbed

From the rhythmic beats of tribal drums to the ethereal melodies of classical symphonies, music has accompanied humanity throughout history, shaping cultures and emotions.

While often dismissed as entertainment, music possesses an intrinsic power that evokes profound spiritual experiences.

It is a medium that speaks directly to the soul, bypassing the intellect and engaging the heart in a dialogue as ancient as humanity.

Ghanaian artist, Kojo Blak, has described music as a deeply spiritual experience, one that can be interpreted by the soul.

Kojo Blak explained the unique inspiration behind his music and the meaning of the numbers tied to his projects.

“757 and 131, ‘131’ is the title of my current EP. You know, numbers play a very spiritual role in my life. Music itself is spiritual, something you can’t touch but you can feel. It’s something only your spirit can transcribe. The last song I recorded for my 757 EP was done exactly at 7:57 PM.

“I’ve been documenting those moments and following that path ever since. Everyone releases EPs and names them things like Love or Heartbreak, but I like to be different, I choose names that reflect my spiritual journey.”

Music is often described as a universal language, yet its true nature extends beyond mere communication. Unlike spoken language, which is confined by grammar and vocabulary, music taps into the raw emotions and experiences that define our humanity.

When a haunting melody or a powerful symphony is listened to, it is often transported to a place of introspection and connection. This phenomenon is attributed to how music engages emotions, allowing the expression of feelings that is difficult to articulate.

For instance, consider the way a simple chord progression evokes a sense of nostalgia or longing. This emotional response is not merely a reaction to the notes themselves but rather an awakening of memories and feelings stored within our souls.

Music, in this sense, becomes a conduit for self-discovery, as it allows explore innermost thoughts and emotions, often revealing truths about that one is not aware of.

Throughout history, music has played a vital role in spiritual practices and rituals across cultures. From the Gregorian chants of medieval Christianity to the intricate ragas of Indian classical music, the sacredness of music is universally recognized.

Many religious traditions incorporate music as a means of connecting with the divine, believing that it elevates the spirit and facilitates a deeper communion with God or the cosmos.

The act of singing hymns, chanting mantras, or playing sacred instruments creates an atmosphere conducive to spiritual awakening.

The vibrations produced by music resonate with the frequencies of the universe, allowing individuals to transcend their earthly concerns and experience moments of divine connection.

This spiritual dimension of music is not only a personal experience but also fosters a sense of community, as shared musical experiences unite individuals in a collective expression of faith and devotion.

The spiritual experience of music is further exemplified in its therapeutic applications. Music therapy has become an essential tool in healing practices, helping individuals cope with trauma, grief, and mental health challenges.

The ability of music to evoke emotional release and promote healing is rooted in its spiritual essence. When individuals engage with music—whether by listening, singing, or playing—they often find solace and comfort in the melodies that resonate with their struggles.

Research has shown that music stimulates the release of dopamine, a neurotransmitter associated with pleasure and reward, creating feelings of joy and contentment.

This biochemical response, coupled with the emotional resonance of music, facilitates a profound sense of peace and spiritual well-being. In moments of despair or confusion, music serves as a guiding light, illuminating the path toward healing and self-acceptance.

In a world often characterized by chaos and disconnection, music remains a steadfast companion, offering a deeply spiritual experience that speaks to the soul.

It transcends the limitations of language, allowing individuals to explore their emotions, connect with the divine, and heal from life’s challenges. Through music, a reflection of humanity is not only found, but also a pathway to transcendence, unity, and understanding.
