Stonebwoy Expresses Why He’s Thrilled to Rejoin TGMAs

Stonebwoy

Multiple award-winning singer and songwriter, Stonebwoy has revealed that he’s excited to be part of the Ghana Music Awards again after his ban was lifted some years ago.

He emphasized his deep connection to the awards.

“You are very right if I don’t feel happy, motivated, concerned, and involved in the Telecel Ghana Music Awards then it means I’m not a Ghanaian or I don’t want its progress.

“I look at the whole Ghana that we too this is our own thing so Ghana Music Awards is what belongs to us unless you are not a Ghanaian or you hate the country.”

Stonebwoy

Due to a brawl Stonebwoy had with his colleague, Shatta Wale, at the 2019 edition of the awards, they were both banned from the scheme but Stonebwoy later apologized and was accepted.

“As musicians whatever we’re doing in our field of music is to lift the name of Ghana high bring honor to the country and help Ghanaians to get employment.

“That’s how I see it so if another year has come and the organizers have used their resources to put together such an amazing event we also need to support it.”

Stonebwoy

According to him, his intention is seen and whenever he travels to perform, he represents Ghana.

“If you can’t support it too no problem but so far as it’s for Ghana, I can’t take myself out of it. So why would I not be happy about anything Ghana if you are not part of it you can’t contribute to it so you have to be a part of it for you to be able to contribute.”

Ghanaians Advised to Support Winning Artistes

Stonebwoy, the reigning 8-time Reggae and Dancehall ‘Artiste of the Year’ at the Ghana Music Awards lamented the focus on trivial discussions on social media.

He stated Ghanaians must avoid discussing unnecessary issues on social media.

“As for social media when you have credits and data on your phone and you don’t use it to talk, what else would you use the data for? So you have to go and find something to say or share your opinion on issues like the shoe that someone is wearing because the data is there to be used.

“If you don’t say it or comment on it what else would you do with the data but that should not be our mindset all the time. We have to use that same data to seek information, and break down the information so that we can move away from trivial, unnecessary discussions that don’t help but rather support someone who is doing well to go further.”

‘Artiste of the Year’ at the 2024 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), revealed that he had huge expectations when he was releasing his album last year.

According to Stonebwoy who won the highest number of awards at the TGMA, he is not surprised that his 5th Dimension (5D) tape won the Album of the Year.

“Yes of course I had huge expectations when I was releasing the 5D album because myself and my team knew we were doing something extraordinary for Ghana and the globe. Because the work we are into is now done globally. I wasn’t so surprised that my 5th Dimension has become successful since what we did wasn’t garbage.

“It’s a proper thing that we came out with so it’s necessary and deserves the kind of attention and acceptance we’ve gotten all over the world. So I’m not that surprised by the achievements my album has been able to make but it rather motivates me that I’ll continue pushing so we move forward because progress is a must.”
