Ghanaian Reggae/Dancehall artist, Livingstone Etse Satekla better known as Stonebwoy, has officially released his highly anticipated new album, “Up & Running.”
The album, which features his monster hit “Jejereje,” was unveiled at a glamorous party held at the Alora Beach Resort inside Laboma Beach in Accra on Wednesday, October 23, 2024.
Following the success of his award-winning album “5th Dimension”, “Up & Running” promises to further solidify Stonebwoy’s position as a leading figure in the Ghanaian music scene.
The star-studded event was attended by a host of celebrities, including former Shatta Wale manager Bullgod, actress Nadia Buari, TV personality, Nana Ama Mcbrown, rapper Kwaw Kese, Efya, and musician D-Black, among others.
Stonebwoy’s wife, Dr. Louisa Satekla, was also present to support her husband.
The dancehall artist also celebrated the recent Grammy article about his sixth studio album, “Up & Running.”
He spoke about the variety and uniqueness of sounds on the album. He noted that “Up & Running” was an extension of his 2023 album, 5th Dimension.
Stonebwoy shared that he is among the few artists who have gained such international recognition.
He stated that his works warranted a spotlight from prominent international media platforms like the Grammy Awards.
The Burninton Music Group President said that he and his team were working on an international level and would continue to attract more recognition from other top outlets outside Ghana.
“With all due respect, I am one of the few artistes who would have a write-up on these prominent international platforms, so the link is there, and the workrate actually warrants PRs like this. We are working on an international level so this will not be the first one.”
Stonebwoy
Dancehall artist, Stonebwoy stated that international platforms like Rolling Stone and others were integral to his and his colleagues’ efforts to promote the Ghanaian music narrative beyond the country, just like the Nigerians and Kenyans.
He noted that the Grammy Awards spotlight on his project should not be seen as a surprise because those are the levels he wants to reach with the Ghanaian music brand.
Stonebwoy added that the Grammy feature on his “Up & Running” album signified the importance of his brand and that not every artist can gain such recognition without the kind of impact he has had. “It is owing to your impact and input, your weight and size,” he added.
Bullgod Hails Stonebwoy’s Musical Impact
Artist manager, Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson, popularly known as Bullgod, praised Stonebwoy for his international impact as a Ghanaian musician.
The former manager of Shatta Wale was among numerous entertainment industry players, including Nana Ama McBrown, Kwaw Kese, Efya, Andy Dosty, Cina Soul, and others who attended Stonebwoy’s “Up & Running” album listening party.
Stonebwoy received cheers and praise as he thrilled fans with performances of the songs from the new “Up & Running” album.
Speaking at the album listening party, Bullgod acknowledged Stonebwoy as the Ghana music industry’s current biggest export on the international stage.
“So far, he (Stonebwoy) is our biggest export from Ghana. There is nobody else. Others are trying. I am not saying nobody is trying, but so far, he is our biggest export.”
