Pop icon, Taylor Swift has officially become the richest female musician in the world, surpassing Rihanna with a net worth estimated at $1.6 billion, according to Forbes.
This milestone comes after Swift became a billionaire in October 2023, largely due “to the earnings from her Eras tour and the value of her music catalog.”
Swift, 34, is the first musician to reach billionaire status mainly through her music and live performances. Her wealth includes $600 million from touring and royalties, another $600 million from her music catalog, and $125 million in real estate.
Unlike Rihanna and her close friend, Selena Gomez, who recently joined the billionaire musician club, Swift does not have any business ventures outside of her music to add to her net worth, like Fenty Beauty or Rare Beauty.
With this achievement, Swift has moved ahead of Rihanna, who was previously the richest female musician, largely thanks to her Fenty Beauty and Savage x Fenty brands.
Rihanna’s net worth is now estimated at $1.4 billion, placing her just behind Swift on the Forbes list.
Swift is ranked #2,117 on the Forbes list of the world’s billionaires, while Rihanna is at #2,336. Among other wealthy female musicians, Swift’s net worth is much higher than stars like Beyoncé, Madonna, and Celine Dion.
Currently, Swift is taking a break from her Eras Tour, which wrapped its international leg in August with five shows at Wembley Stadium in London. The tour returns to the U.S. this month for another leg, kicking off with an October 18, show in Miami.
The tour will end on December 8 in Vancouver, Canada. The phenomenon was named the highest-grossing tour of all time by Rolling Stone through data from Pollstar, who as of 2023 estimated that each show in the tour made $17 million and pulled in over $200 million from merchandise cumulatively.
Dr. Sonja Stribling, a retired U.S. Army Major and author of the upcoming book “From the Battlefield to the Boardroom”, noted that Taylor Swift has essentially transformed the music industry for female artists.
Stribling emphasized that Taylor Swift’s impact goes beyond her financial success. Stribling said, “It is not just the money she is making, which is very important, but she is creating a pathway for other people to follow.”
“I know without a doubt that her and Beyoncé have had a conversation about this because they are paving the way for others to follow. They are the first of many, especially for women, leading the way. So, it’s not just billionaire status, but Taylor is about to go down in [the] history of setting high goals for others to want to achieve.”

She further stated that she knows that 1% of the population in the industry that she [Taylor Swift] operates in, and maybe even less than that, will achieve what she has achieved, and she makes it look so simple.
Singer Threatens To Take Legal Action Against Student Tracker
Taylor Swift has issued a legal warning to Jack Sweeney, a college student who has been tracking her private jet movements online, calling his actions “stalking and harassing behavior.”
Swift’s legal team, led by attorney Katie Wright Morrone, sent a cease-and-desist letter to Sweeney, demanding he stop tracking and sharing the singer’s flight routes. According to the letter, Swift’s team emphasized that failure to comply would result in legal action.
In the letter, Swift’s legal counsel expressed deep concern for the singer’s safety, stating that Sweeney’s actions had caused “direct and irreparable harm” and “emotional and physical distress.” The letter further noted that Taylor Swift was now in a “constant state of fear for her personal safety” due to the online tracking.
“There is no legitimate interest in or public need for this information, other than to stalk, harass, and exert dominion and control,” the letter read. Swift’s team also made it clear that if Sweeney did not cease his tracking activities, they would “have no choice but to pursue any and all legal remedies.”
Sweeney, who became known for tracking the private jet flights of high-profile individuals, responded to Swift’s legal threat in a statement.
He claimed that his intentions were not malicious, stating, “I think it’s important to note that nowhere do I intend for harm. I actually think Taylor Swift has some good songs.”
Sweeney also defended his actions, arguing that the public has a right to transparency.
“I believe in transparency and public information. I think the people are interested, and [Swift] should have a decent expectation that your jet will be tracked whether or not I do it, as after all, it is public information.”

The letter from Swift’s legal team followed a wave of public criticism over her private jet usage and its environmental impact, a controversy that made headlines just days before the cease-and-desist was sent.
