Ghanaian actress, Lydia Forson, has reacted to an ‘E-Levy designed cake’ the Majority leader, Honorable Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu received during his birthday.
The renowned politician celebrated his 65th birthday recently, and to the dismay of Ghanaians, the Majority leader was seen in pictures including the Vice President, Mahamudu Bawumia, with an E-Levy-designed cake.

Joining the masses to criticize the issue, Lydia Forson took to Twitter and averred that the actions of the leaders sum up how politicians in Ghana think and make policies for citizens.
“About this cake. A group of people sat down, thought it through, decided it was a good idea, and went ahead to bake, send to a party and take pictures. This sums up how politicians think and make policies for us. Regardless of its source, some people thought this would be funny”.

Several Ghanaians have condemned the cake as insensitive because the proposed E-Levy bill remains a major controversy in the country.
One Twitter user, @JohnTerryTresh who found humor in the situation noted that “nothing cracks me up than the Vice President @MBawumia representing and cutting cake”.
Another tweep, @satar_yussif who thought the issue was ‘fishy’, opined that the leaders were fabricating the situation to create chaos in the country and shift attention from the E-levy brouhaha “then pass it ‘low-key'”.
E-Levy designed cake was not the official cake- Aide clarifies
Meanwhile, Maxwell Ofosu Boakye, who is the special aide to the Majority Leader in Parliament, explained that the E-Levy-designed cake circulating on social media was not the official birthday cake of Honorable Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu when he celebrated his birthday.

Amid backlash from Ghanaians on social media, Maxwell Ofosu Boakye clarified that Honorable Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu did not mark his birthday with the E-levy-designed cake. Speaking in an interview, the aide explained that the cake which has gone viral was rather part of gifts presented to him.
Mr. Boakye, however, stated that even if the E-Levy cake was the official cake for Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, the Majority wouldn’t have shied away from it because, they have been pushing for the passage of the E-Levy bill.
Meanwhile, some members of the NPP have indicated that the cake was presented by the Minority to mock the Majority.
Following this, the Deputy Youth Organizer of NDC, Edem Agbana, dared the NPP to name the member of his party who presented the E-levy-designed cake to celebrate the birthday of the Majority Leader.
Touching on rumors that the cake was presented by members of his party in Parliament, Mr. Agbana said: “It is never true! We have dared them that they should name the MP who presented the cake”.
Speaking further on the issue, Mr. Agbana insisted that the cutting of such a cake is the “height of insensitivity” and “gross disrespect” to the people of Ghana.
“At a time Ghanaians are suffering, a cake of such design is cut to spite them in the face? That is disrespectful”.
