Authorities of the US National Medical Service Laboratories (NMS) in Pennsylvania have denied conducting toxicity tests on the late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Promise Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, as claimed by the Lagos State government.
This revelation by NMS was in response to a pathologist’s claim on Wednesday, May 15, that an autopsy on Mohbad’s decomposed corpse could not ascertain the cause of his death.
It can be recalled that African Television and the African Foundation for Justice offered a N50 million reward to anyone with relevant information about the killers of the 27-year-old Mohbad who died under mysterious circumstances, sparking nationwide controversy and protests.
The Client Services Associate, Forensic Divisions of NMS, Esther Dede, disclosed that the late singer’s toxicity test was not conducted anywhere around the lab’s premises.
“Unfortunately, we do not have a case for that patient. To maintain our compliance with HIPAA privacy regulations, we would need authorisation from the submitting agency.”

The Lagos state Commissioner for Information, Gbenga Omotoso, when contacted, maintained that NMS Lab was the name of the facility submitted by the state’s DNA and Forensic Centre for Mohbad’s autopsy.
“This was what I was told by the Lagos State DNA and Forensic Centre officials who took the sample there. We are dealing with the officials of the Centre, they have three other labs that they have affiliations with.
“If they have an emergency, they can go to any of the three labs. I asked which particular one did they go to and they answered it was that one. That means I will have to go and check again because that was what I was told.”

It was reported that Mohbad’s lawyer, Wahab Shittu assured that the outcome of the singer’s autopsy test as announced by the pathology would not be the end.
Identity of Mohbad’s Killers To Be Revealed After DNA Test
The father of the late singer, Mohbad, Joseph Aloba stated the identity of his son’s killer will be revealed to Nigerians after a DNA has been successfully carried out on the late singer’s son, Liam.
Mohbad’s death has continued to spark debate on social media, including suspicions over his son’s paternity.
Aloba also refused to rebury his son unless a DNA test established Liam’s biological father.
“Cynthia (Omowunmi) is supposed to be called a liar. There is no single truth that comes out from her. She says ‘Because I did not give daddy placenta since then he has been’. Liam has bowed legs. People started calling my attention to the physical traits of Liam, saying ‘We do not have curved legs in our family. So where did Liam get his curved legs’.
“I wanted to name the boy Victor. I did not know where they got the name Liam from. But they told me there was no more name. Liam is an Islamic name and we do not have Islamic in my lineage.”

He recently indicated that Liam’s DNA test could have had a role in the singer’s demise.
However, Aloba accused Mohbad’s wife, Omowunmi, of infidelity and claimed to know who killed the singer.
Omowunmi, according to Aloba, also influenced Mohbad against the management of his former label, Marlian Records.
“We are talking about DNA they did not do it and they want us to bury Mohbad. We must know if the child is ours. If he belongs to our bloodline. Mohbad has always been talking to me about one king. If people want to look for who killed Mohbad, they should wait after the DNA test.”
