VGMA 23: VGMA 2022 Part One Winners

The 2022 edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards is underway. The two-day event has already kicked off with performances from Ayigbe Edem, Lyrical Joe, and Gambo, among others.

The first part of the 23rd Annual star-studded electrifying Vodafone Ghana Music Award (VGMA) was held in the Grand Arena, Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) on May 6, 2022.

Each year, Charter house organizes the award show to congratulate the hard works of deserving artists in the Entertainment industry and this year’s host was a massive.

Charter house recruited the service of Ghana’s famous Rapper and Singer, Edem, and Media personality, AJ Sarpong as the main event hosts for the night of glitz and glamour.

The first day of the Ghana Music Awards saw some artists bagging awards in various categories they were nominated for.

BET winner and Dancehall/Reggae Artist Stonebwoy was declared the winner of the Music for Good award at the annual Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2022 (VGMA2022). This will be the first time he is winning in that category.

Stonebwoy won the award based on the content of the song ‘Greedy men’. In ‘Greedy men’, Stonebwoy addresses the societal challenges facing Ghana, especially the destruction of natural resources.

Another highlight of the night was when musician, Fameye, dethroned Kofi Kinaata to become Songwriter of the Year. Kinaata had dominated this particular category by winning the last four awards in a row.

Renowned record producer and serial hit-maker, MOG Beatz was crowned Producer of the year. This will be the second time he is grabbing this award.

Instrumentalist of the Year – Joshua Moszi

Male Vocal Performance of the Year – Amazing God by Kwaisey Pee

Female Vocal Performance of the Year – Where You Are by Niella

Songwriter of the Year – Praise by Fameye

Best Video of the Year – Nyinya by Bosom PYung

Producer of the Year – MOGBeatz

African Artiste of the Year – WizKid

Lifetime Achievement Award – Agya Koo Nimoh

Unsung Artiste of the Year – Gambo

Music for Good – Greedy Men by Stonebwoy
