The 23rd annual Vodafone Ghana Music Awards will be well-attended not just because of a 22-year legacy of spectacular performances, absolute class, glamour, and valor, but also because it is a celebration of one of Ghana’s most exciting nights in entertainment.
According to the event organizers, the 6th and 7th of May will undoubtedly be extraordinary and exquisite, since VGMA will bring to a close the expanding ecstasy of the previous 5 months, which has seen some artists express shock, while others were ecstatic and had high expectations, and some analysts bewildered. It’s all ready to go now!
“The Red Carpet, the Fashion, the Awards, the Acceptance Speeches, the Wow Moments, the Big Hitters and the Losers… all of this takes place over the course of one weekend at the Grand Arena, starting at 8 p.m. on each day,” VGMA organizers wrote in a statement.
Ghanaian Excellence to be Honored
The weekend will aim to celebrate Ghanaian excellence in music, music content, and music commerce. The awards will be given out in 33 categories based on votes from the schemes Board, Academy, and the general public.
“Thousands of musical works were submitted by hundreds of musicians and music executives between January and February, and the board discussed and generated a nominees list”, the event organizers revealed.
Artists went into campaign mode, asking fans and lovers to vote for them. The tally of votes will be handed over by KPMG, internationally recognized and acknowledged accountants, and VGMA statisticians, paving the way for the “naming and glorification of singers who have made a name for themselves in the year under review – 2021; and lifting the Ghanaian flag high”.
