Wendy Shay Confirms Dispute With RuffTown Records Settled

Wendy Shay and her manager, Bullet

Award-winning Ghanaian singer, Wendy Shay has finally addressed the issues between her and RuffTown Records label boss, Bullet.

According to the singer, she disagreed with Bullet over a contract offer from an International music record label, but they sorted out that issue.

Wendy Shay added that another issue strained her personal and working relationship with Bullet.

“Bullet and I had a problem. We had an issue. My contract ended a year ago. I continued working with him out of loyalty. I got an offer from an International label 2 years ago, and we had disagreements over it, but we sorted it out.

“It was another issue that caused the friction between me and Bullet. I don’t want to go into details.”

Wendy Shay

The singer disclosed that she and Bullet have mended fences and re-established a working relationship.

“Some big figures intervened in the issue and it has been squashed. Bullet and I are now back together working. I have extended my contract with RuffTown Records.”

Artist Clarifies Supposed ‘Diss’ Song to Manager

Afrobeats songstress, Wendy Shay cleared the air about a supposed ‘diss’ song to her manager and CEO of RuffTown Records, Bullet.

The artist recently had a spat with Bullet over contract renewal and agreement causing friction between both.

Wendy Shay for the past few weeks was not working with Ruff Town Records and released a song ‘Who Cares’ at the time they disagreed.

The ‘African Money’ hitmaker released the song at the time of her dispute with Bullet.

In a post on Instagram earlier in June 2024, Bullet claimed that Wendy Shay’s ‘Who Cares’ song which she released while they were in dispute was directed towards him.

He stated this while he was commending Sammy Flex for his ‘excellent’ job in managing Shatta Wale to highlight the challenges artists’s managers experience in their field.

However, Wendy Shay has refuted this assertion by Bullet. The artist explained that the circumstances of their disagreement led to the composing of the song.

She further emphasized that although she was inspired by their dispute to write the song, it is not directed personally to Bullet.

“The situation inspired me to write the songs but it is not directed to Bullet. It’s not like I’m giving a stray bullet to Bullet. It’s just that as a creative when you go through something you just take the emotions out of it and write something out of it … I understand why he feels that way though.”

Wendy Shay

Talking about talent, Wendy Shay believes no artist manager will sign an artist who is not talented.

“Bullet is the talent himself and when he sees talent, he knows. He signed me because I can sing. The songs we write together and the ones I’ve written, the ones he gives me to sing, I kill it all.”

Wendy Shay

The Ghanaian songstress sees that time is the test of everything when it comes to being nominated as the Female Vocalist of the Year during TGMA.

“When you’re here for a long time, you don’t struggle for some things, because I know I’m gonna be here forever. It would get to a time when people will see another side of Wendy Shay.

“But most of my fans know I can sing and as I said, an artist should not rate himself or herself with an award scheme. As an artist, music is bigger than all these.”
