You Have To Look For Monica – Prince Mackay

The CEO of the popular Radio & Television Personality (RTP) Awards, Prince Mackay

The CEO of the popular Radio & Television Personality (RTP) Awards, Prince Mackay has advised Kwami Eugene to look for Monica.

The event entrepreneur revealed that he had heard the story behind the song, and found it inspirational.

“Monica has been of immense help to Kuami Eugene so Kuami Eugene must go and help Monica. Monica, you’ve done well. You’ve given Kuami Eugene a massive hit. You’ve brought Kuami Eugene back home [to familiar territory] – I’m a realist and that’s why people don’t understand me. I’m straightforward,” he said.

“Look, bro, for some time now, we know he’s been struggling. From the time of his issues with Lynx, when he released “Single”, and then came other ones – you could clearly see Kuami Eugene was lost. I was telling myself the Kuami Eugene we know is lost. It looked like he was getting off his normal [path]. It looked like he was going through some tough times,” he noted.

It can be recalled that Kwami Eugene revealed he lost his grandmother and father consecutively in a short period of time, recently. This, he disclosed, was why his latest album is called “Chaos and Love”. He explained the ‘love’, in the title, was about the support his fans have constantly given him through thick and thin.

“I didn’t have this information you’re giving me but I could tell that at that time he was going through something because he was not the Kuami Eugene we know… Something had changed about the way he composed music. You could tell he had gone off track a bit,” Prince Mackay reacted.

“Monica, the female, has provoked Kuami Eugene to come back on track. That’s why I said he should go look for her,” he asserted, thereafter.

Just as he [Kwami Eugene] says in the song, Prince Mackay suggested that he should buy one of these little cars, Vitz, for her to do Uber business with, so she can stop what she currently does, adding that Monica, should tell Kuami Eugene she helped him get a hit and restored him to his former [glorious] position.

King Promise’s ‘Terminator’ To Be Beaten By ‘Monica’

Event entrepreneur Prince Mackay intimated that come the 2024 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, King Promise’s “Terminator” will be beaten by Kuami Eugene’s “Monica” in the Most Popular Song of the Year category.

The CEO of the popular annual Radio and Television Personality Awards observed that for some time, the serial hitmaker has not seen much commercial success with his new releases but Monica has lifted him up again.

“Kuami is so powerful. He can far exceed our expectations,” Prince Mackay said.

Upon his first radio listen, Mackay noted that he knew this was a hit, adding that the song was released just at the right time.

“Considering how successful the song has been this month, December will be for Kuami Eugene. What is more, this song will competitively bother Terminator,” Prince Mackay declared.

“This song, Monica, will be a strong competition for Terminator come next year, for song of the year. You just watch what will happen,” he further added.

He noted Eugene and his record label mate KiDi are two musicians who have enjoyed the most repeat business for his Radio and Television Personality (RTP) Awards event.

“Five consecutive years, it so happens that every year when the event happens, they are the ones on top and we go for the artists who are hot at the time. Kuami Eugene and KiDi never fail every year, to move the crowd,” he said.

The 2023 RTP Awards, celebrating media excellence in Ghana, returns to the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) on Friday, December 29, 2023.

Mackay assured that, unlike recent editions, this year’s will be ticketed but only for 500 people. The rest of the room will be availed to invited guests.
