President Akufo-Addo has disclosed that the new presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), will win the 2024 December elections.

The Centre for Social Science Research at Kumasi Technical University (KTU) has projected a win for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in the forthcoming presidential elections.

Tipped to win by 52.3% votes, the survey from the University also predicted the flagbearer of the opposition, John Dramani Mahama to trail behind in the second slot with 47.1% of votes.

This forms part of the latest survey to be conducted ahead of the 2020 polls, which according to the Center, some 88,000 respondents nationwide were sampled in the survey.

They further revealed that, “the NPP’s worst performance is predicted to be 51.4% of the total vote, with an average performance of 52.3%. The NDC came second with the best performance of 47.1%”.

The survey by the Center also asserted that, the two major political parties in the country will each win seven of the sixteen regions in the country.

Contrarily, it was ambivalent over certain regions such as the Bono East and Greater Accra regions, which it reckoned to be ‘swing’ regions, posturing them to go either ways for both parties, urging them to give off their best in those regions.

“The NPP are also most likely to win 7 regions; Ahafo, Ashanti, Bono, Central, Eastern, North East and Western regions. The remaining 2 regions; Bono East and Greater Accra are still up for grasp by any of the two main political parties who works extra hard.”

A week prior, an earlier survey by the Political Science Department of the University of Ghana had in similar vein projected a 51.7% victory for the NPP’s Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

“The respondents who said they were going to vote based on sound campaign message, their preferred choices were NPP’s Akufo-Addo 52.5 and followed by the NDC’s John Mahama 40.9. GUM’s Christian Kwabena Andrews got 1.3 but what is more important is that 3.7 percent of Ghanaians have not decided.

“When we asked our sample which presidential candidate they were going to vote for if elections were held today, 51.7 percent said they will vote for Akufo-Addo, and 40.4% said they will vote for Mahama while 1.4% said they will vote for GUM. So that is what the 11,000 respondents that we spoke to said.”

Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo had revealed that he will not be complacent over result from opinion polls released by the Political Science Department of the University of Ghana which projected a win for the New Patriotic Party.

The survey which raked for the incumbent New Patriotic Party a staggering 57.1% from a sampled respondents of about eleven thousand, was an encouraging feat for the president, however, he insists he remains focused on continuing with his campaigns.

Speaking in an interview, President Akufo-Addo said the party will be tirelessly assiduous in their endeavor at winning the December 7 election.

“Opinion polls are just opinion polls, and [they] are votes. Even Though I am encouraged, I am not going to be complacent about it and lose my guard on campaigning. Right up to the midnight of December 5 that the laws allow us to campaign, we will continue to campaign for every single vote in the country and make sure it is ours so on the 7th of December 2020, we will be declared winners of the polls”.
