Bawumia Accused Of Hypocrisy Over Debate Demands

Anyidoho Urges EC To Ensure Credible 2024 Election

Professor Kobby Mensah

Professor Kobby Mensah, a political marketing strategist, has lambasted Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for dodging intense media scrutiny, unlike John Mahama, yet hypocritically clamoring for a debate with Mahama, without subjecting himself to the same level of press scrutiny.

He commended John Mahama, the NDC flagbearer, for his courage in hosting the “Meet The Press” event, where he willingly subjected himself to a grueling questioning session, fielding diverse and probing questions from the media.

Prof. Mensah pointed out that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is eager for a debate, a structured format that would limit his responses to just two minutes, and notably, does not permit follow-up questions or in-depth scrutiny, a far cry from the rigorous questioning he has been avoiding.

He asserted that Dr. Bawumia’s actions imply a perceived gullibility of Ghanaians, suggesting that he believes the public can be easily deceived or manipulated.

“You think we are fools in Ghana. The soundbite campaign: We don’t ask questions at rallies. We don’t probe but will get the soundbites for the front page, news reviews, the tweets, and posts, and possibly go viral. That’s their aim. If you mean it, Meet The Press”.

Professor Kobby Mensah

Prof. Mensah lambasted the NPP and Dr. Bawumia for resorting to a campaign strategy that prioritizes sensationalism over substance, relying on flashy rhetoric rather than factual merit.

As such, he threw down the gauntlet, challenging the NPP and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to engage in an open and transparent dialogue with the media and the nation, answering questions and scrutinizing their claims.

Dr. Justice Srem-Sai concurred with Prof. Mensah, expressing puzzlement that Dr. Bawumia has not submitted himself to an open, transparent, and rigorous public examination, unfiltered and focused on key issues.

Bawumia’s Debate Demands Mocked By NDC

The NDC highlighted that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s flagbearer, had previously responded to debate proposals laughably, dodging the opportunity for a serious discussion in 2016.

The NDC noted its bewilderment that Dr. Bawumia is now clamoring for a debate, despite having failed to address his own 170 unanswered questions and having been thoroughly discredited by his handling of the economy, which has been a resounding failure.

Joyce Mogtari Bawah, Special Aide to John Mahama, observed that as a leader, Dr. Bawumia should display greater decorum in his speech, emphasizing that the Vice President ought to show more respect towards others.

“Should a Leader repeat the recklessness of his communicators? When he was lying as then Running Mate was he lying to the NDC alone or to Ghanaians?”

“He told barefaced lies, and he offered knowledge he didn’t have His Wife insulted John Mahama and told us that this man in the video was an economic whizz kid coming to fix the economy. Talk is cheap indeed!”

Joyce Mogtari Bawah

Joyce Bawah observed that if Ghanaians truly love their country and want the best for it, they should question whether this is the type of leadership that Ghana needs right now.

Joyce Bawah emphasized that all Ghanaians are asking for is a clear account from Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of his achievements in addressing the country’s economic challenges, and specifically what measures he has taken to fix the economy.

She demanded to know what concrete measures Dr. Bawumia has taken to alleviate poverty and improve the living standards of Ghanaians, particularly during his tenure as Vice President.

She called on Dr. Bawumia to account for his actions in tackling corruption, specifically demanding a detailed explanation for the alleged misallocation of over $11 million in funds intended for the Pwalugu Dam project, which has yet to materialize.

“This is so low even by his standards, a leader’s composure and coherence should matter to us”. – Joyce Mogtari Bawah
