Rex Omar Expresses Full Support for Dzifa Gomashie’s Appointment

Abla Dzifa Gomashie

The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts has strongly refuted claims circulating on social media that cast aspersions on the professionalism and conduct of Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie.

In a statement issued by the Ministry’s Public Relations Unit, it described the accusations as “wholly unfounded” and “gravely misleading,” aimed at tarnishing the hard-earned reputation of the sector Minister Dzifa Gomashie.

“These assertions, portraying the Minister as disrespectful and unprofessional, are not only wholly unfounded but also gravely misleading. They represent a blatant mischaracterisation of an individual who has consistently demonstrated humility, dedication, and tireless service to the cultural advancement of our nation.”

The statement

According to the Ministry, the Minister’s track record is anchored in openness, mutual respect, and genuine commitment to promoting Ghana’s cultural identity and heritage.

It said interactions with stakeholders, industry players, and the broader public had always been cordial and professional.

The release attributed the spread of the allegations to a “certain social media personality” whose motivations, the Ministry believes, are rooted in personal gain rather than factual integrity.

“We urge the public to remain vigilant and to disassociate themselves from content creators and individuals who prioritise sensationalism over truth, and who recklessly seek attention at the expense of public trust and unity.”

The statement

The statement added that such falsehoods, even when they go viral, “may gather temporary noise, but truth always prevails.” It encouraged the general public to continue supporting the Ministry’s work and resist attempts to derail its mission.

The Ministry also said it expected an “unqualified apology for the blatant lies peddled against the Hon. Minister and themselves,” reaffirming its zero-tolerance stance on misinformation and character assassination.

Signed by Delassie Mabel Awuku, Head of Public Relations, the statement concluded with a firm pledge to remain transparent and open to constructive dialogue, while warning that it would not tolerate attempts to “divide and distract” the Ministry from its work of preserving, celebrating, and elevating Ghana’s tourism, culture, and creative arts.

The government inaugurated a new Governing Board for the Ghana Tourism Development Company (GTDC) to provide strategic leadership and reposition Ghana as a premier tourism and cultural investment destination.

Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, said the board’s inauguration comes at a critical time as Ghana intensified efforts to diversify its economy through tourism and heritage development.

She emphasised the GTDC’s pivotal role in implementing the national tourism strategy and urged the board to drive innovation, attract investment, and champion sustainable tourism initiatives.

“Your role as board members is one that comes with a lot of challenges. This is because the survival, or otherwise, of the institution depends on the leadership you provide.”

Abla Dzifa Gomashie

She called on members to uphold integrity, diligence, and professionalism while ensuring effective resource management, good governance, and stakeholder collaboration.
