Dr Samuel Ben Owusu

In a message delivered to Ghanaians ahead of the December 7, 2024, general elections, Dr. Owusu emphasized that the pivotal role each citizen plays in shaping the future of Ghana is through their individual choices they make.

Recognizing diversity as a strength, the United Nations Eminent Peace Ambassador stressed that dialogue, understanding, and respect are essential elements for building a better future for all Ghanaians.

“It is imperative that we make our voices heard loud and clear, ensuring that our choices contribute to shaping the future of Ghana. In this pivotal election, it is essential that we unite as one, transcending our differences and embracing the values that bind us together. Ghana has consistently been a beacon of democracy and peace in Africa, and it is our collective responsibility to uphold and strengthen these principles”.

Furthermore, the United Nations Eminent Peace Ambassador, Dr. Samuel Ben Owusu called on political parties, candidates, and their supporters in the country to conduct themselves with utmost integrity and respect for the betterment and progress of the country’s  democratic process.

Emphasizing the importance of healthy debates centered on critical issues, Dr. Owusu acknowledged that disagreements are inevitable but urged stakeholders to express them with tolerance, prioritizing national development.

Dr. Owusu while expressing deep concern for the potential risks associated with the electoral process, however admonished that no life should be lost during the elections.

“Remember, Ghana comes first, and the people of Ghana shape the nation. We anticipate seeing leaders, regardless of their backgrounds, being held accountable for their actions to prevent the destabilization of our peace, integrity, and tranquility as a nation”.

Dr Samuel Owusu

According to Dr. Samuel Ben Owusu’s it is the collective responsibility of all Ghanaians to uphold and safeguard the democratic legacy that has made the nation a role model for others in the region.

He emphasized that the 2024 general elections should be a testament to the country’s commitment to peaceful and democratic governance.

Meanwhile, Pastor Ransford Obeng, the chairperson of the Kumasi Ministers Conference, has called on the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana to engage in meaningful dialogue with political parties ahead of the December 7, 2024, general elections.

During a press conference held on Tuesday, January 23 2024, Pastor Obeng emphasized the importance of maintaining successful election practices while advocating for open communication between the Electoral Commission and political parties.

He thus urged the Ghana’s electoral malmanagement body not to alter any process that has contributed to the effective conduct of elections in the past but rather to build upon existing frameworks.

“The key message we want to convey to the Electoral Commission is that they should sit down with the political parties. That is all that I want to tell them because whatever we have been doing, and it is working for us, we don’t have to remove it. You only add to it, you don’t change anything that has helped you to conduct elections successfully”

He further emphasized that any modifications to the country’s electoral processes by the Electoral Commission should only be considered if a particular aspect of the electoral process has caused problems in the past.

In addition, Pastor Obeng advised against the public announcement of prophetic revelations regarding election outcomes, suggesting that such disclosures could lead to some unforeseen consequences in the unlikeliest of event .
