The SOS International, a humanitarian organization based in Kentucky, United States of America has extended a helping hand to the North Tongu Member of Parliament, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa by generously donating medical drugs and equipment valued at US$110,000.00 (GHS1.4 million).
The donations which included crucial medications, medical devices, and personal protective equipment (PPE), according to the North Tongu Member of Parliament aim to alleviate the suffering of victims affected by the Volta River Authority spillage in the region last year.

The items donated to the Member of Parliament of North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa include 90,000 tablets of diabetes medication of metformin 500mg, 120,000 tablets of hypertension medication of amlodipine, 132,000 tablets of soluble aspirin, 30 pieces of digital BP Machines and 100 pieces of infrared thermometers.
Other items included 100 pieces of pulse Oximeters, 29 pieces of digital scales, 9 pieces of nebulizers for Asthma, 50 disposable sets, and several personal protective equipment such as masks, aprons, etc.
There was also POP fiberglass material which is meant for managing fractures, in addition to bandages, cotton rolls, and a substantial quantity of wound dressings.
Expressing his appreciation towards the donation, the Honorable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, saluted the unwavering support of Denise Sears, President and Chief Executive Officer of SOS International.
The Honorable Ablakwa commended the Chief Executive Officer of SOS International for her compassion, dedication, and love for Africa and humanity, emphasizing her pivotal role in spearheading philanthropic efforts to the North Tongu Constituency.
Furthermore, the North Tongu Member of Parliament, Samuel Okudzeto Abakwa strongly asserted that the medical equipment donated by SOS International perfectly aligns with his office and the organization’s commitment to the service of humanity.
He emphasized that the donation of medical equipment by SOS International would ensure the successful furnishing of the state-of-the-art Atta Mills Surgical Block in Tagadzi and the re-equipping of all 31 health facilities in the North Tongu Constituency.
According to Honorable Abakwa, his outfit would also extend its donations of medical equipment to other hospitals in the country including the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, and Ho Regional Hospital among a dozen of other hospitals.

Moreover, the Member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Parliament, the Honorable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa expressed his profound appreciation to the SOS International for honoring him as its 2023 ‘Humanitarian of the Year’.
The Honorable Ablakwa further indicated that the recognition done to him by SOS International as its 2023 Humanitarian of the Year reinforces his commitment to the shared vision of creating positive change in the lives of those in need.
