Former Deputy General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Obiri Boahen has disclosed that President Nana Akuffo Addo can be impeached due to his delay in sacking the Finance Minister, Hon Ken Ofori Atta and his deputy, Mr. Charles Adu Boahen.
He added that the current reactions and press conferences by both the Minority and Majority Members of Parliament can cause a great havoc to the NPP, which is the impeachment of the President, should some Members of Parliament file a motion on that.

“Are we going to sit down for just two people to cause harm to the party? When you listen to what both the NPP and NDC are saying, if care is not taken, it will lead to the impeachment of the President himself.”
The politician mentioned that, regardless of the President’s hard work and projects, Ghanaians would not hesitate to make him step down if he still decides to keep his cousin.
“They can probably say; we advised him to take him off, yet he did not listen, let us take the President off. That possibility is there.”

Speaking in an interview on Wednesday October 26, Mr Boahen indicated that there would be no need to keep the finance minister and his deputy until the seal of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) deal as proposed by the President.
However, he noted that the absence of the finance minister would not have any negative effect on the IMF deal should he resign or be impeached, as the IMF will be dealing with policies and arrangements and not human faces.
“They are not coming to watch faces. They are coming because of policies and arrangements.
“Are you telling me the deal won’t sail through should Ken be taken ill? It will still go on.”

There have been recent calls on the President to sack his cousin, Ken Ofori Atta, who is the finance Minister. This, is as a result of the current economy crises which includes the rapid fall of the Cedi. The price of fuel is up and the prices of items in the country keep increasing daily.
This has become a major concern for every Ghanaian including those who are in the diaspora.
