Akuffo Addo’s Address Full of Slogans – Martin Kpebu

Private Legal Practitioner, Mr. Martin Kpebu, has stated that President Akufo-Addo’s address on the economy was an address full of mere slogans without any intended action.

He added that the President is only repeating ‘slogans’ he said in the past.

Speaking in a media interview on Sunday October 30, 2022, he disclosed that President Akuffo’s assurance to turn the fortunes of the economy while he was campaigning for votes in 2016 has not materialized.

“It does not cut muster. This is not sufficient. What he has said is basically looking at candidate Akufo-Addo in 2016, sloganeering, that is what it is.

“You heard the President famously say that he wanted to change the Guggisberg economy in 18 months. Its been six years down the line and he comes to say the same thing, he diagnosed the problem but he did not have what it takes to change the economy.”

He noted that President Akufo-Addo must in respect of honour, resign as soon as possible as he has failed Ghanaians.

Akuffo Addo Speaks To Ghanaians on Economy Crisis

President Akuffo Addo has announced key decisions that have been taken by government to curb the economic crises facing Ghanaians.

In his address to the nation on Sunday October 30, he mentioned that, there are some measures taken by the government to resolve the issue; enhanced supervisory action by the Bank of Ghana in the forex bureau markets and the black market to flush out illegal operators, as well as ensuring that those permitted to operate legally abide by the market rules.

“Already some forex bureaus have had their licenses revoked, and this exercise will continue until complete order is restored in the sector.”

Another measure is the fresh inflows of dollars which are providing liquidity to the foreign exchange market, and addressing the pipeline demand.

“The Bank of Ghana has given its full commitment to the commercial banks to provide liquidity to ensure the wheels of the economy continue to run in a stabilized manner, till the IMF Programme kicks in and the financing assurances expected from other partners also come in.

“Government is working with the Bank of Ghana and the oil producing and mining companies to introduce a new legal and regulatory framework to ensure that all foreign exchange earned from operations in Ghana are, initially, paid to banks domiciled in Ghana.”

President Akuffo Addo

Mr Akufo-Addo further assured Ghanaians that his government cares about them hence, its working hard to ameliorate the hardships they are going through presently.

He added that government is determined to restore economic stability.
