Malik Basintale, the NDC’s Deputy National Communications officer, expressed confidence in winning the Assin North by-election, which is being held today, June 27.
Malik Basintale added that even if the New Patriotic Party (NPP) tries to give its supporters free tickets to paradise, NDC still stand a better chance of gaining the seat.
He claims that the NDC is unconcerned about the NPP giving gifts and money to local voters.
“I can confidently say that even if the NPP decides to share human parts and free visas to heaven, we will defeat them in the by-election. I can confidently say that from where I am, we have been interrogating people, and interacting with them throughout the processes. We have availed ourselves to listen to their concerns. What we are able to solve we have solved, what we are able to improve upon we have done that.”
Malik Basintale
Basintale further emphasized the trust that Assin North residents have in the NDC’s track record, saying that the people have faith that the NDC will launch significant projects if given a fair chance. According to him, the NDC has shared its vision statement with its supporters, and they appear to have a lot of faith in the NDC. “They seem to believe what we have done, if we are given a fair opportunity, we will improve upon it,” Malik Basintale continued.
He reaffirmed that despite the numerous road projects being undertaken by the NPP government, the NDC will win the by-election.
“I can also confidently say that one of the people in this country that I have interacted with politically, that have been so discerning in their concerns in their views and opinions are the people of Assin North. You will see lots of bulldozers working and the people look at them and laugh.
“They say for 6 good years, you haven’t done anything in this constituency, all because there’s a pending by-election, you have moved the same machines from Kumawu to Assin North, only to deceive us, and they think we are kids, or some headless chickens, excuse me to say.”
Malik Basintale
He claimed that the constituents are worried because President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo passed judgment on their candidate James Gyakye Quayson before the matter was heard.
NPP Will Undoubtedly Win Assin North Seat
The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Evans Nimako, Director of Elections, is optimistic that Charles Opoku would be elected as the residents of Assin North’s Member of Parliament in today’s by-election.
Mr. Nimako hinted that Charles Opoku will be proclaimed the victor at the conclusion of voting based on cross-consultation the NPP had conducted in the weeks prior to the June 27 by-election.
According to an NPP internal assessment, seven out of 10 Assin North voters will choose Charles Opoku, according to Mr. Nimako.
“If you ask me if the New Patriotic Party’s Charles Opoku will win the by-election, I am telling you with all confidence that a win is not in doubt. If you meet as many as ten people, almost seven of them will tell you that they will vote for Charles Opoku. So for us in the NPP, we are certain in our minds that the voters in the constituency will vote for Charles Opoku.”
Evans Nimako
He added that the NPP candidate’s commitment to development and altruism is widespread throughout the district and is anticipated to show during the election that will lead to Mr. Opoku’s win.
“The voters of Assin North are weighing between Charles Opoku and Gyakye Quayson and Charles Opoku not even being a Member of Parliament is seen more as a development agent and outweighs Gyakye Quayson who has been away for the past 45 years in Canada and has nothing to show in the constituency and became an MP after lying and so the people are clear and confident in their minds that it can not be Gyakye Quayson anymore because he cannot be trusted.
“Gyakye Quayson has lied to the people of Ghana and the people of Assin North, and they are not ready to vote for anybody who does not t tell the truth, so I can assure you that the good people of Assin North are ready to vote for Charles Opoku.”
Ernest Nimako
James Gyakye Quayson of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Charles Opoku of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), and Bernice Enyonam Sefenu of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) are the three contenders for the Assin North seat.
