Bawumia Makes Great Use Of Gov’t Resources And Personnel– Camp Alan

Alan Kyerematen and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia

Yaw Buaben Asamoa, a former New Patriotic Party (NPP) communications Director and spokesman for Alan Kyerematen’s campaign says that the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is exploiting government resources and staff.

In the race to lead the NPP into the 2024 general elections, Dr. Bawumia is ahead of the former Trade and Industry Minister Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen and MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, according to the results of a survey of NPP delegates conducted by Global InfoAnalytics.

According to the results of the survey by InfoAnalytics, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is in the lead with 34.8% of the vote, followed by Alan Kyerematen with 27.9% and Kennedy Agyapong with 12.5%. According to the poll, less than 1% of the votes were cast for the other contenders, while 8.9% did not declare their vote, and 15.10% were unsure.

In response to the survey’s findings, Mr. Asamoah spoke out.  He asserted that it is untrue for any research to suggest that Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia is not campaigning for the position.

“Anybody telling you the Vice President is not campaigning is not telling you as it is. He has government appointees going round offering incentives. They are those who are being threatened to follow through. There are those who are being promised all manner of things.”

“There are teams of government appointees and party leaders going round the country working on his behalf regularly and constantly. So, it is not about he himself, he is campaigning seriously with government resources and personnel moving around the country trying to get delegates to accept him as a candidate.”

Yaw Buaben Asamoa

Mr. Buaben added that because of the grassroots campaigning being conducted in favor of the Vice President, participants felt compelled to support him.

“All this is part of the impacts that you see in the polling. The people feel that if I am asked, it will be safer for me to say it that way rather than say it the other way. So, there are things happening on the ground.”

Camp Alan Confident Of Winning NPP Presidential Primaries

According to Mr. Yaw Buaben Asamoa, Alan Kyerematen would undoubtedly prevail in the primary elections and go on to become Ghana’s next President. Furthermore, he claimed that the survey was informative and valuable.

“I am confident that Alan will win this primary and cross on to lead Ghanaians. Delegates are aware about sentiments in the country and know who they want to lead them. We know what is happening on the ground, he is doing appreciably well.”

Meanwhile, Dr Bawumia will file his nomination forms to contest the NPP Presidential Primaries in Accra today, Friday, June 16, 2023. He is anticipated to present the forms, chosen on his behalf by former National Vice Chairman, Fred Oware and former National Organiser, Sammy Awuku, to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) headquarters in Accra.

If more than five candidates make it through the primaries, the party has set a National Congress by the Special Electoral College for Saturday, August 26. The congress to select the NPP 2024 flagbearer will take place on Saturday, November 4, following the Special Electoral College, if any.
