“I believe that it is time to move Ghana to the next level by building on the foundations we have put in place so far… Together with you, I want to see a Ghana where we leverage technology, data and systems for inclusive economic growth. I want to make Ghana the digital hub of Africa. I want us to bridge the digital divide and apply digital technology and artificial intelligence for the transformation of healthcare, education, and public service delivery amongst others”.

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia

As part of his vision, Dr Bawumia further stated that he desires to see the country’s education system tilted towards STEM, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, digital and vocational skills to cope with the demands of the fourth Industrial revolution. He further highlighted the need for the next government to cater to the needs of the poor and vulnerable in society.

“I want to see Ghana as an industrialized nation. I want to entrench and enhance the current strategy of industrialization that we have embarked on and introduce new technology like digital manufacturing for the manufacturing spare parts, syringes and other equipment. Together with you, I want to see Ghana with robust fiscal discipline in the management of our public finances to sustainably and significantly reduce bank lending rates.”

Years of dedication to the NPP

Furthermore, the Vice President expressed his resolve to ensure continuity by building on the strong foundation laid by the current administration led by President Akufo-Addo. To this end, he underscored his support and dedication to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Ghana from his tenure as Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana during the Kufuor era to the present government.

“Over the last 22 years, I have worked hard with you for the NPP and for Ghana from during the Kufuor era as Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, through our years in opposition and now in government. During this period, I have sacrificed for the party, I have defended the party in good times and in challenging times, I have never wavered nor slacked. I have built a solid track record of performance as Vice President with an unflinching loyalty to our party and government through rain or shine.”

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia

Accompanied by several stalwarts of the NPP including members of parliament, Dr Bawumia explained that he reckons that he has taken the first step of victory in 2024 via his submission of nomination forms. He equally conceded that although it has not been a stroll in the park, he has surmounted the challenges which has built resilience in him.

Buttressing his point, he revealed that regardless of the economic challenges the country is currently confronted with, the NPP government has constructed more infrastructure than any other government in the fourth republic and many transformational policies introduced.

Speaking at the Party Headquarters after the Vice President submitted his forms, the Minister for Fisheries, Mavis Hawa Koomson, called on the party delegates to elect Dr Bawumia to enable the party continue some of the good works currently ongoing.
