Bawumia Would Humbly Resign If He Had Integrity- Lawyer Tamakloe

Bawumia would humbly resign if he had integrity.

Lawyer Edudzi Tamakloe, Member of the NDC Legal Team

In a panel discussion on the 15th of November 2022, Lawyer Edudzi Tamakloe, Member of the NDC Legal Team stated that, the Vice President would humbly resign as the chair of the economic management team, if he claimed to have integrity. He disclosed that His Excellency Bawumia has brought so much hardship since he came to office.

He explained that the Vice President should humbly step down because he has failed to deliver to the people of Ghana who had faith in him, adding that, the Vice President should ask the President to find someone else to lead the economic management team.

“The NPP gave us benchmarks, they said everybody that leads the country into IMF is incompetent. Correct? Bawumia at the Central University at the Distinguished Lecturers’ service, made it clear that you cannot lead the country into IMF and still be boastful.”

Lawyer Edudzi Tamakloe

According to him, the Vice President has no fidelity from the way he speaks. Following the recent dismissal of Mr. Charles Adu-Boahen, Lawyer Tamakloe explained that the conversation of “appearance fee” did not start today, making reference to the case of Kennedy Agyapong, who found himself in a similar case as Mr. Adu Boahen’s some few years ago.

He also mentioned that the statements made by Charles Adu- Boahen in the recently leaked video can only come from someone who was close to the Vice President, indicating that, Mr. Adu- Boahen was close to the Vice President and he spoke willingly and not under any form of duress.

“These are NPP persons. If these conversations had come from NDC officials, I would have said that maybe this is political. First of all, Charles Adu-Boahen has no adverse or ill will towards Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. Charles Adu- Boahen is not in any competition with Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the man was speaking out of freewill and he didn’t know that he had been entrapped.”

Lawyer Edudzi Tamakloe

Lawyer Edudzi Tamakloe indicated that the President himself said sometime ago that he was going to adapt the “Anas Principle” to fight corruption, therefore the recent case of Charles Adu-Boahen was more of a principle endorsed by the President than an entrapment.

Adu- Boahen’s Position Was Useless

Meanwhile on the same panel of discussion; Benard Monarh, Former Chairman of the PNC, stated that the position of the Minister for State at the Ministry of Finance was a useless position. He backed his claim by indicating that, there ministry of finance already had a minister, two deputies and a set of directors.

He said that it was an avenue for syphoning state resources and nothing whatsoever warranted the creation of that position. Mr. Monarh expressed his displeasure of the decision to elevate a deputy minister to a minister of state, and he further emphasized that the position remained a very useless position and only created “job for the boys.”

“Charles Adu-Boahen is the son of the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party 1992, and Akuffo- Addo was the campaign manager. You can link it to the fact that he had the favor of the President and therefore it was ‘job for the boys’”

Benard Monarh

He stated that Charles Adu-Boahen was not given the position out of merit and that, the position did not have anything to contribute to the advancement of the economy. He explained that Charles Adu-Boahen was appointed due to the absence of a finance minister and when Ken Ofori-Atta came into office, he came to take “what belonged to him.”
