The Deputy Spokesperson for the Mahama 2024 Campaign Team Beatrice Annan Esq. has highlighted the significant investments made in the education sector under the leadership of former President John Dramani Mahama from 2013 to 2017, while in office.
The member of the opposition party’s National Communications Team, in a compelling statement noted that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration, recognizing the critical role of education in national development, implemented numerous initiatives to enhance educational infrastructure and resources across the country.
Lawyer Anna began by highlighting the major achievements that the National Democratic Congress achieved in basic education under former President John Dramani Mahama’s previous administration
According to her, the National Democratic Congress administration under former President John Dramani prioritized the provision of essential learning materials to improve the quality of education at the basic level.

Here, Lawyer Annan, the Deputy Spokesperson of the Mahama 2024 Campaign Team posited that over 15 million exercise books were distributed to pupils, ensuring that students had the necessary tools to engage in their studies effectively.
Additionally, Lawyer Annan indicated 12.5 million textbooks covering core subjects such as mathematics, science, and English were distributed to public schools, adding that by the end of the NDC’s tenure, the textbook-to-pupil ratio had improved significantly, reaching 4:1.
This, she emphasized marked a substantial enhancement in resource availability, facilitating better learning outcomes for students.
Provision of School Uniforms and Footwear
Furthermore, Beatrice Annan Esq., the Deputy Spokesperson of the Mahama 2024 Campaign Team stated due to the National Democratic Congress under former President John Dramani Mahama’s appreciation of the financial constraints faced by many families, the NDC government took proactive steps to alleviate some of these burdens.
She indicated that close to 2 million school uniforms were supplied to pupils across the nation, ensuring that every child had the appropriate attire for school.
In addition, Lawyer Annan noted that in the National Democratic Congress government under former President John Dramani Mahama provided and distributed 10,000 locally produced sandals in a bid to support children in deprived communities,

Moreover, one of the most notable achievements of the National Democratic Congress administration under former President John Dramani Mahama was the elimination of over 2,035 schools under trees.
This transformative initiative, she argued replaced inadequate and temporary learning structures with permanent, well-equipped classrooms, with the initiative creating a conducive learning environment for students, thereby enhancing their educational experience and outcomes.
