Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, Deputy Minority Leader and MP for Ellembelle has denounced as “insulting and grossly misguided” the comparison made by NAPO between the achievements of Nana Akufo-Addo and those of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

He emphasized that Dr. Nkrumah’s visionary leadership and transformative achievements stand unparalleled in Ghana’s historical narrative, leaving an indelible legacy that surpasses all others.

“Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh’s attempt to compare Nana Addo to Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah following his uninspiring outdooring as the running mate to the failed presidential candidate of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is a misguided and insulting affront to the legacy of Ghana’s founding father”.

“Dr. Nkrumah’s unparalleled contributions to Ghana’s independence and development are undeniable, and any attempt to draw comparisons with Nana Addo is unjust and illogical”.

Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah

Furthermore, the MP stated that Nkrumah’s legacy and accomplishments have a far-reaching impact, spanning all regions in Ghana, including Matthew Opoku Prempeh’s own Ashanti region, which has greatly benefited from Nkrumah’s profound achievements and lasting impact.

Buah highlighted some of Nkrumah’s notable achievements in the Ashanti region, including the founding of the renowned Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi, a premier medical institution in West Africa, which has been providing exceptional healthcare services for decades.

He also mentioned the establishment of the prestigious Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, a renowned institution in Ghana, and the expansion of the Kumasi Central Market, which significantly boosted the regional economy.

Furthermore, the MP added to the list, noting the development of the road network in the Ashanti region, including the construction of the Kumasi-Accra highway, which has significantly enhanced transportation and connectivity.

He also mentioned the establishment of the Kumasi Shoe Factory and the Kumasi Jute Factory as achievements of Kwame Nkrumah, which have contributed to the region’s economic growth and industrialization.

Nkrumah’s Legacy, A Lasting Impact On Ghana

Moreover, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah emphasized that Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s achievements have an even broader impact on a national level, with his legacy being even more impressive and far-reaching across the country.

He noted that some of the milestones achieved by Nkrumah include the introduction of free and compulsory primary education, as well as the establishment of renowned universities, such as the University of Ghana and the University of Cape Coast.

According to the MP, Nkrumah’s legacy also includes the construction of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and the establishment of various educational and technical institutes across the country.

“Constructed Tema Harbor. Constructed the Accra International Airport, which was later changed to Kotoka International Airport”.

“Is Matthew Opoku Prempeh strangely suggesting that Nana Akufo-Addo’s administration, which has plunged the country into economic turmoil through unprecedented borrowing, debt distress, stinking corruption, and ineffective leadership, is somehow superior to the transformative leadership of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah that propelled Ghana into a new era of development and progress?”

Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah

Hon. Buah noted that under Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s visionary leadership, Ghana emerged as a beacon of hope and a shining star in Africa, setting a laudable example for other nations to emulate and follow.

He noted that, regrettably, Ghana has become a laughingstock due to the abysmal performance of the Akufo Addo-Bawumia-led government.

The MP indicated that, as the Energy Minister, NAPO should acknowledge the significance of Kwame Nkrumah’s visionary project, the Akosombo Dam, a critical infrastructure that continues to generate over 30 percent of Ghana’s electricity supply to date.

He noted that NAPO must retract his statement and apologize for his attempt to mischievously rewrite history.

He noted that Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s legacy is sacrosanct, and any attempt to downgrade it will be met with fierce resistance.

“The people of Ghana will not tolerate any attempt to distort the country’s history and undermine the legacy of its founding father”. – Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah

Hon. Buah stated that the undying legacy of the African of the millennium and global icon, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, will forever be protected and not allowed to be distorted and undermined.
