The Coalition of Concerned Youth for Nkawkaw in the Nkawkaw Constituency in the Eastern Region has lamented over the growing lack of development in the constituency and the lack of concern on the part of authorities to address them.
In a petition submitted to the Municipal Chief Executive Officer of the Kwahu West Municipal Assembly, the Convener for the group, Emmanuel Adofo Baah posited that the ‘sad’ development has impoverished several constituents especially the youth undermining their progress in life.
According to him, there are serious developmental challenges facing the constituency that need urgent attention from the central government and local authorities to address but have failed to address them.
“The Municipal Chief Executive Kwahu – West Municipal Assembly dear sir, a petition to seek an explanation of identified problems and swift action to provide lasting solutions to some key challenges affecting the growth and continuous development of the youth and general well-being of the Nkawkaw constituency”.

Explaining the numerous problems facing the Nkawkaw Constituency, Mr Adofo Baah complained about the deteriorated state of the Nkawkaw Sports Stadium which has been left unattended for years.
He noted that the lack of constant maintenance work on the ‘once all-important’ Nkawkaw Sports Stadium which brought hope to the promising young talents, has gone into a deteriorated state rendering it unfit for use for sports activities by the local communities.
According to him, the situation has severely undermined the growth and development of sports activities in the constituency, particularly over the recent years.
Again, Mr Adofo Baah expressed the group’s grave concerns and regret on the rising rate of youth unemployment in the constituency.
He asserted that the constituency lacks the availability of industries and companies that could provide job opportunities to the youth thereby leading to a high increase in the rate of social vices in the constituency.
“It is sad to note that, a teeming number of able young men and women who are ready and willing to work have put in all efforts in search of employment but to no avail. This is because the constituency lacks opportunities that could absorb this youth in the working class”.

Mr Adofo Baah further lamented over the inadequate representation of the Nkawkaw constituency on the national stage. He stressed that the Nkawkaw Constituency lacks the visibility it deserves, which has become a major contributing factor to the lack of opportunities within the constituency.
“We have also observed that over the years our constituency has not enjoyed the luxury of proper representation at the national level. Least is heard about the constituency talk less of advocating for the interest and well-being of the well-meaning constituents”.

Group Demands Action From Local Authorities
In view of the above-mentioned developmental gaps highlighted by the group which is facing the Nkawakaw Constituency, the Convener for the group, Mr Emmanuel Adofo Baah called on the Municipal Assembly and management of the Nkawkaw Sports Stadium to take immediate steps to address the deplorable state of the Nkawkaw Sports Stadium.
Moreover, the Coalition of Concerned Youth of Nkawakw called on the central government and the local authorities, particularly the Chief Executive Officer for the Kwahu West Municipal Assembly to intensify its effort to lobby foreign investors into the constituency to aid the creation of job opportunities for the teaming youth in the constituency.
According to the Convener, Mr Adofo Baah, the youth in entrepreneurship should also be assisted with the needed financial support, and be provided with the required skills training to help liberate the constituents from the net of unemployment which has bedeviled the constituency.
“We want to feel a wind of Change, a new dawn that will bring back the hopes and bring into the realization of the aspirations of all. This we believe centres on leadership and therefore the leadership of this Constituency must rise. It is necessary to charter a path that will restore our hope. The constituency is sinking and we must rise to save the face of the Nkawkaw constituency. We pledge our unflinching support to this course”.
