CPP Chief Scribe Expresses Doubt Of VEEP Breaking The ‘8’

Nanna Yaa Jantuah

The General Secretary of the Convention People’s Party, Nana Yaa Jantuah has expressed doubt of the Vice President and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party’s chances of winning the 2024 general elections as the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party.

According to her, the significant number of people who did not vote for the Vice President in the party’s presidential primaries on Saturday, November 4 2024 is justification that the Vice President is not in full control of the party.

The former Public Relations Officer of the Public Utility Regulatory Commission also expressed doubt of the Assin Central Member of Parliamnt, Kennedy Agyapong and his Team actively campaigning for the Vice President, Dr Mohammed Bawumia in the 2024 general elections.

“Kennedy and his people are also there; on the face of things I can say I am going to support you but I won’t. I look at body language; he [Kennedy Agyapong] did very well on the night of the declaration of the result but his body language was not very beautiful. He was communicating anger when Dr Serebour made a mistake and said 91%. Did you see his face? He has flaws yet he still got 36%; it shows something, it shows that there is resentment. People wished it was another candidate and not the Vice President.

“Also, the first time that the Electoral College wasn’t this large President Akufo-Addo got 47% but after when the Electoral College was expanded, he got almost 97% throughout. That shows overwhelming support but in the case of the Vice President, he couldn’t secure such an overwhelming votes”.

Nanna Yaa Jantuah

Again, Nana Yaa Jantuah asserted that the resignation and independent candidacy of the former Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen in the 2024 general election pose a huge challenge to the Vice President and the New Patriotic Party to break the eight.

Nana Yaa Jantuah Chastises NPP Over It Mantra Of Breaking The ‘8’

Furthermore, the Chief Scribe of the Convention People’s Party expressed her disgust towards the New Patriotic Party’s mantra of breaking the eight rather than addressing the country’s economic challenges.

According to her, she is very surprised at the New Patriotic Party administration’s conduct and action of winning the next election more than solving the serious economic problems it has inflicted on Ghanaians.

“The economy is what it is and people are suffering. We are in some level of difficulty but there is no concentration on that everything is about breaking the eight. The concentration is about how to retain power. You don’t know how it is for people to survive in this country! Sometimes you feel like not going out because if you get two cedis, you will use the two cedis to buy petrol.

“If you are working and doing your own business, you might not even get what you have to get; medical care is expensive. When you are on TV and you hear of people on dialysis who can’t afford it, your heart breaks; when that young girl died I cried, even though I don’t know her. So when I see the people in power whose only interest is breaking the eight, my heart breaks”.

Nanna Yaa Jantuah

She thus urged President Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party administration to focus on addressing the economic challenges the country is facing as the situation has worsened the plight of Ghanaians.

Meanwhile, a member of the National Democratic Congress Communications Team, Margaret Ansah expressed optimism about the party’s flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama’s 24-hour economy policy to transform the country.

According to her, if the policy is fully implemented, the country would experience total growth and development in all sectors of the economy which would reduce the high level of unemployment facing the country.
