The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama has prevailed on the people of Fodome Ahor in the Volta Region to disregard the presence of security deployment in the region.
Urging them as part of his campaign tour of the Volta Region, he admonished them not to be daunted as they go to the polls come December 7, further insisting they go to the various polling centers in throngs to vote for the NDC.
“So on 7th December, come out in your numbers, please don’t be intimidated. We have noticed that they have increased security deployment in the region. They originally said the soldiers who came earlier were there because of the coronavirus, but they took them back despite the virus still being here and now they have brought them back again.
“Don’t be intimidated, don’t be frightened, please come out in your numbers and make your voice count. Everybody must own your polling station, don’t leave it to the branch executives alone, keep an eye on the polling station and make sure that everything is done according to the law. And when they are going to count please come out and witness the count and let our party agents make sure that the polling pink sheets are filled accordingly”.

John Mahama further tasked residents and adjoining communities in the Hohoe Constituency of the Volta Region not to succumb to any form of enticement head of the 2020 polls.
Meanwhile, Mr. Mahama disclosed that, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have consciously taken him to the cleaners by tagging him during his reign as president by taking advantage of his position for political gain in the 2016 polls.
“Some of the corruption allegations against my administration were throw-factory with some saying I had hotels in Dubai, some also claiming I had ships at the Tokyo Habour and myself and Lordina diverting $100 million World Bank money into our Swiss bank account and all. At the time, we felt that Ghanaians should see through it and there was really no truth in it.
“So there are sometimes that perception of corruption created deliberately for political advantage and I suffered a lot from what the NPP did, and we didn’t respond appropriately.”
He insisted that President Akufo-Addo is currently “swimming in corruption” and must be voted out.
“Let’s use the most scientific means of measuring corruption which is the transparency index. My worse score is better than Akufo-Addo’s best score. That is the most scientific basis. Otherwise, then, it is hearsay”.
Conversely, President Akufo-Addo has insisted the barrage of attacks on him by John Mahama on him by John Mahama are signals that he has no campaign message.
Addressing a rally held at Akropong in the Eastern Region to end his one-day campaign tour of the Region, President Akufo-Addo explained that the opposition leader has nothing new to offer.
“The campaign has landed in confusion, misrepresentations and outright fabrications. That is the campaign of John Dramani Mahama. You cannot go to the Presidency of Ghana with lies and fabrications. Ghanaians will not allow that to happen”.
