Dr. Bawumia’s Performance As The Vice President Is Exceptional – Dr Abdul-Ganiyu

Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia

Dr Abudu Abdul-Ganiyu, Management Consultant and member of the New Patriotic Party National Communications Team, has claimed that Dr Mahamadu Bawumia, the incumbent Vice President – is the most remarkable Vice President in Ghana’s political history.

Dr. Abdul-Ganiyu in a media interview described the Vice President as a ‘victim of his own circumstances’ while he claimed that the Vice President has performed so well that Ghanaians seem to forget that Dr. Bawumia is only an assistant to the President and not the President.

Accordingly, the management consultant, asserted that the Vice President has been the major player in the implementation of the novel National Identification System. He said that, considering Ghana’s first attempt in 1970, the progress Dr. Bawumia made in his tenure as Vice President is enormous and must be commended.

Again, Dr. Abdul-Ganiyu said that the Vice President’s digitalization drive which was ensured by the success of the National Identification System policy of the Ghana Card has attained massive success as it is the pivot around which other digitalization policies have been built.

Dr. Abdul-Ganiyu mentioned the case of the implementation of the Paperless System at the Ghana Ports and Harbors which he claimed has abridged cases of corruption in their operations.

Adding more to the achievements of Dr. Bawumia, the NPP Communications Team member disclosed that the Vice President is working closely with the Controller and Accountant General’s office to digitally improve its operation system which will completely eradicate the problem of paying salaries to ghost names on government’s payroll.

Furthermore, Dr. Abdul-Ganiyu claimed that a look at the country’s macroeconomic indices prior to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 will affirm that the country’s economy was on a much more positive trajectory, a testament to the expertise of the Vice President.

More so, Dr. Abdul-Ganiyu asserted that the decline in the Vice President and NPP Falgbearer’s performance as the Head of the Economic Management Team of the ruling government is a result of the Covid-19 pandemic and should not be a yardstick with which the Vice President’s competence or lack thereof is measured.

New Patriotic Party Government Lauded For Handling Ghana’s Economy Properly

Moreover, Dr. Abdul-Ganiyu stated that given the country’s economic situation during Covid-19 pandemic, the ruling New Patriotic Party as a government handled the country’s economy properly. He claimed that Ghana’s currency rating with Fitch which has moved up a notch is testament to the hard work being done by the Economic Management headed by the Vice President.

Dr. Abdul-Ganiyu further opined that the Vice President has been the best steward that the country has had in its political sphere. Thus, he stated that Dr. Bawumia has what it takes to turn the economy of Ghana around for the better if the Vice President wins his bid to become President in the upcoming December 7 polls.

In addition, the NPP National Communications Team member argued that accusing the Vice President of allowing the implementation of certain policy is wholesomely unfair. He argued that the Vice President is only a member of an entire team and can only offer advice that can either be taken or not. He argued that blaming the Vice President then, is ‘unrealistic’ and ‘unreasonable’.

Conclusively, while the party is rallying behind the Vice President in his bid for Presidency, critics and members of the opposition party are lashing out at the ruling party and their attempt at retaining power in the 2024 general polls.

Mr. Alan Kyerematen, a former party member and independent presidential candidate in his appraisal of Dr. Bawumia’s bid have said that the Vice President has had enough time to prove himself to Ghanaians and have failed abysmally.
