Dr. Eric Nkansah has today 19th October 2022, been appointed the new Direcor -General of the Ghana Education Service (GES) by the office of the President.
His appointment which is an acting one takes immediate effect pending the advice of the Governing Council of the GES and the Public Services Commission.
The appointment was contained in a letter issued on Wednesday, October 19 by the Presidency and signed by Nana Bediatuo Asante, Secretary to the President.
Dr. Nkansah is required to state his acceptance or rejection for the role within the next 14 days, the letter from the Presidency said.
The letter reads “I am pleased to inform you that the President has appointed you to act as the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (the Service) pending receipt of the constitutionally required advice of the governing Council of the Service, given in consultation with the Public Services Commission.”

This comes just a day after Prof. Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa was dismissed because his services were no longer needed at the GES.
He succeeds Prof Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa whose contract has been terminated for him to return to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
Dr Eric Nkansah’s Career
Before his appointment, Mr Nkansah was the Technical Advisor/Director in charge of Tertiary Education at the Ministry of Education.
For 15 years, Dr Nkansah has been working in the field of Finance and Education.
The 41-year-old educationist joined the Ministry of Education in April 2021 from the Kumasi Technical University, where he served as a Senior Lecturer for about 8 years.
During the same period, he served as an Adjunct Lecturer at the Graduate School of KNUST from February 2013.
Mr Bediatuo Further congratulated the new Appointee saying “I take this opportunity to Congratulate you formally on your appointment.”
