President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed the country’s preparedness to do business with potential investors and participants at the ongoing Dubai Expo.
According to him, Ghana is a country where investments are secured and protected under a governance system where independent judiciary upholds the rule of law and respect for private property rights. Addressing participants at the opening of the EXPO in Dubai, today, March 8, 2022, he indicated that the country is equally a land of opportunity for private capital.
“Ghana is ready for business [and] Ghana is the land of opportunity for private capital. I invite all of you to visit the Ghana pavilion and the opportunity for a taste of Ghana’s hospitality characterized by the nutritious chocolate made from Ghana’s premium cocoa”.

President Akufo-Addo intimated that as part of the process of “formalizing the economy”, government has among others, implemented a digital property address system. Additionally, he noted that Ghana has equally issued biometric national identification cards for every resident to have a unique identification number and to ensure paperless transaction at the country’s ports.

Extolling the gains of the country, President Akufo-Addo expressed that Ghana is the safest country in West Africa and the “largest recipients of foreign direct investments” in West Africa, ranking 3rd in the ease of doing businesses index in West Africa. The President further noted that Ghana is the new commercial capital of Africa by virtue of its hosting of the Secretariat of the Africa Continental Free trade Area.
“We are the second largest cocoa producer in the world [and] we are the largest producer of gold in Africa. We are endowed with considerable deposits of bauxite, iron ore, manganese, lithium, oil and gas, diamond and timber and we are geographically, closer than any other country to the centre of the planet”.

Prior to this, the United Arab Emirates Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, welcomed the President and his delegation and indicated that he hopes the Expo would be a catalyst for new business opportunities. He expressed optimism that the delegation will have an exemplary Expo experience.
In Dubai, President Akufo-Addo will participate in a Business Forum under the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) and hold meetings with other investors interested in doing business in Ghana. The Expo which began on October 1, 2021 will end on March 31, 2022.
This year’s Dubai Expo 2020 is on the theme: “Connecting Minds, creating the Future”. The theme is based on the belief that innovation and progress are the result of people and ideas coming together in inspiring new ways.
The Expo aims to forge new partnerships and inspire ground-breaking solutions across key industries worldwide. It also seeks to raise awareness about the worldwide issues that mankind faces. Similarly, the Expo provides several possibilities for networking and the promotion of international connections.
