The National Democratic Congress (NDC) branch in Fomena has strongly asserted that the Fomena Government Hospital, a significant healthcare project in the Fomena Constituency in the Ashanti Region is the legacy of former President John Dramani Mahama.
In a detailed press release, the NDC-Fomena Communications Officer, Gerrick Bismark Issa Opoku, emphasized that the hospital, alongside other vital infrastructure projects, was initiated by former President John Dramani Mahama, while in power.
According to the statement, the Fomena Government Hospital, which was about 80% to 85% complete before the NDC left office in 2016, represents a key legacy project of Mr Mahama’s administration in the Ashanti Region.
He emphasized that the project was designed to address the healthcare needs of the Fomena community, transitioning from a basic health facility to a comprehensive hospital under the Ministry of Health’s “Build to Care” initiative.
“As visionary as he is, John Dramani Mahama, saw the need that, the good people of Fomena Constituency deserve quality medical care, rather than a health facility as it used to be, thereby putting up FOMENA HOSPITALS (Build To Care-Ministry of Health) which was an 80% -85% completed before leaving office in 2016”.

Furthermore, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) branch in Fomena criticized President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for halting government projects in areas that did not vote for the NPP, referencing an incident where the President told the Chief of Ekumfi that projects in the area were stopped because of their voting patterns.
Mahama’s Commitment towards Development
In contrast, the NDC-Fomena Communications Officer, Gerrick Bismark Issa Opoku underscored former President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to continuing projects in the Fomena Constituency, despite its status as an NPP stronghold.
According to the NDC Fomena Constituency Communications Officer, former President John Dramani Mahama reiterated this commitment during a meeting with Opagyakotwere Bonsra Afriyie, the chief of Adansi earlier this year during Mr Mahama’s visit to the Constituency.
He strongly argued that any attempt by the New Patriotic Party administration or other entities to claim credit for the Fomena Government Hospital is misleading and false.

The NDC-Fomena Communications Officer, Gerrick Bismark Issa Opoku, therefore underscored the need for acknowledgement of former President John Dramani Mahama’s contributions, expressing his sentiment with proverbs that call for giving credit where it is due and honouring heroes.
“Fellow Comrades and Comradees, It’s imperative to note, that Captain Smart, host of OnuaTV’s morning show, “Maakye” has had an editorial on the FOMENA GOVERNMENT HOSPITAL, as being left to rot by the NPP, because it’s the brainchild of the Nation Builder, John Dramani MAHAMA”.

In a passionate call for support, the NDC-Fomena Communications Officer, Gerrick Bismark Issa Opoku also called for the people of Fomena and Ghana at large to support former President John Dramani Mahama and the party’s parliamentary candidate, Charles Kofi Obgeh, in the upcoming December 7, 2024, elections.
He argued that the 2024 general election is an opportunity to build a better Ghana, highlighting the prospect of the opposition party’s proposed 24-hour economy policy.
The NDC-Fomena Communications Officer, Gerrick Bismark Issa Opoku concluded his remarks by strongly criticizing the ruling New Patriotic Party administration’s performance in Fomena Constituency, urging constituents to recognize the party’s failures and vote for a visionary leadership under former President John Dramani Mahama.
