Ghanaians Indicate Economy Heads South

Ghana's economy

Market-Economic-Activities

Global InfoAnalytics’ Musah Dankwah has indicated that 65% of voters believe that the country is moving in the wrong direction while 51% indicated that their standard of living within the last twelve months has worsened.

He indicated that four major factors cut across the three primary factors that voters indicated would influence their decision to vote or not. These include the availability of jobs, the health of the economy, the quality of education, and the quality of roads in the country.

“Whatever decision they are making today regarding their voting intention is being driven by their perception or their view on where we are headed as a country, their standard of living, and the three most important things for them”.

Musah Dankwah

Furthermore, he indicated that one revelation from the survey is the obvious division in the NPP ranks and file, which the NPP must resolve.

He noted that out of all the voters who openly admitted to being NPP “faithfuls”, 83% disclosed they would vote for Bawumia, while 9%, 7%, and 1% would vote for Mahama, Alan, and Nana Bediako respectively constituting 17% of vote loss for the NPP.

He revealed that among the NDC voters, 96% said they would vote for the Mahama while only 2% disclosed they would vote for Bawumia, adding that the Mahama also enjoys favor with the floating voters as 60% revealed they would vote for him.

Reacting to the survey, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, NPP Campaign Communications Director, stated that the most important thing about a survey is the comments that come with the survey and not the figures projected by the survey.

He asserted that the party will work with the comments to ensure the party delivers on the demands of the electorates.

He indicated that the NPP takes reports seriously and works with them to ensure that the party is not lagging behind in its preparation for the general elections.

Moreover, he alleged that there are about five surveys that put the NPP’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia ahead of his opponents, arguing that the NPP is not discouraged by the findings of the Global InfoAnalytics survey.

Survey Not Conclusive

The NPP Communicator indicated that the outcome of the other surveys submitted to NPP and that of Global InfoAnalytics differ probably due to the different sampling methods used by the different researchers.

“That is why I am saying that surveys like these, the figures don’t matter. Beyond the survey, the details of what the people really are saying that is what is relevant. We have five [surveys] at the moment and for each of them what we do is to consolidate them, look at the commonalities and our responsibility is to adjust, readjust, and make sure that subsequent ones will reflect the changes we have done”.

He further emphasized that human beings are not computers and their decisions can change overnight, arguing that the Global InfoAnalytics survey may not reflect the actual behavior of the people during the general elections.

Accordingly, the Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Mr. Mustapha Gbande disclosed that he is delighted that Ghanaians are receiving the NDC’s 24-hour policy well as indicated by the survey, emphasizing that the policy will be a source of jobs for Ghanaians and a boost into Ghana’s industrial revolution.

He noted that the data of the survey is nothing out of the ordinary as Ghanaians know, without the help of a survey, that the NPP government is underperforming and its flagbearer is untrustworthy as well.

He alleged that the claim by the NPP Communicator that several other surveys favor the NPP is false, demanding that the NPP Communicator provide proof of the supposed surveys to prove this point if indeed these surveys exist.

Conclusively, the NDC Deputy General Secretary stated that the NPP’s denial of facts does not change realities as there are pieces of evidence to show that the NPP has failed wholesomely to deliver on its mandate to the people.
