Honorable Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has promised not to take a salary when he becomes president.
The NPP flagbearer candidate underscored that his government will run a lean government with a lesser number of cars in the presidential fleet.
He indicated that he would buy some Land Cruisers and a Maybach.
“First, I, Kennedy, when I become president, I will not take a salary. I am going to buy 6 Land Cruisers, one Maybach for my team. That is it. I don’t want anything from you.”

According to him, he will use the salary to grant scholarships to the university to a child from each of Ghana’s 275 constituencies every year. He will therefore grant a total of 1 100 students by the end of his first term in office.
“I will keep my salary every year, I will give scholarships to needy Ghanaians in all 275 constituencies, and at least one child will get a scholarship to go to the university. Yes, I will do that. In one term of the Kennedy Agyapong, 1 100 students will benefit from my salary.”

Furthermore, according to Mr. Agyapong two things that make him happy are discussing issues over dinner with his entire family and seeing Ghanaians working.
“Two things will make me happy. My children go to Thanksgiving to discuss issues over a meal with my family. That will be my happiest moment.
“Besides that, my daily happiness is to see Ghanaians working. When I go round all my companies and I see the number of Ghanaians that I have employed and where I am coming from, Assin Dompim, with water and electricity and today I have these kinds of workers I got self-satisfaction and that is what I want to extend further to Ghanaians.”
Kennedy Ohene Agyapong
He, therefore, reiterated that should he become president, he will ensure Ghanaians are working so they are happy.
“If I am given the chance. Look at my work and hope that I will do more as president. I can bring smiles to the faces of the youth, and our mothers.”

However, he cautions citizens not to overly rely on the government. He noted that the role of government is to create avenues and opportunities.
“Citizens cannot overly rely upon the government. What we can do is to create the avenue for them. You can get them trained and give them start-up capital to start life. We have you on record that we did this for you, so we will be monitoring your company and your progress. If you waste the money, we will blacklist you.”
Kennedy Ohene Agyapong
He indicated that, under his administration, those who make good use of government-created avenues and opportunities will get more help from the government and cited the parable of the talents to buttress his point.
Agyapong’s Industrialization Agenda
Mr Agyapong highlighted how Ghana could make better use of its natural resources under his administration.
Citing India, he showed how start-ups on less than 1 acre of land, can do so well with the necessary conditions. He also mentioned how cassava could greatly impact Ghana’s economy if it is well explored.
“We can use cassava to make about 40 products in Ghana. Cassava is more important than gold. Cassava is used for starch, which is in all the drugs we take, pharmaceutical companies are in high demand for starch which comes from cassava.”
Kennedy Ohene Agyapong
He also added that breweries need cassava for beer, guineas, and malt. This makes cassava a very sought-after industrial commodity.
Additionally, Mr Agyapong highlighted how Ghana could make a lot out of maize, palm, sugarcane, shear nut, and coconut among others. According to him, 125,000 acres of maize farm will give you 200,000 liters of ethanol a day for 365 days while sugarcane and palm could generate electricity for the country.
He stated that he would use Ghana to feed Africa.
“I will use the five northern regions, the Volta Region, and the Afram Plains to feed the whole of Africa’, he stated.
He however believes that Ghana needs a leader to realize this potential and urged the country to take advantage of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement to increase trade among African countries.
Also, he urged delegates to vote for him because he is the man who has their interest at heart and have fought for them.
“Delegates, honorable Kennedy Agyapong has been your freedom fighter, fighting for recognition for your hard work.
“You have been home for 7 years, your children want jobs, and those are your worries. If you vote for Ken Agyapong, I will make your children get work to do. So that when you are old, your children can take care of you.”
Kennedy Ohene Agyapong
He cautioned them not to be led by money to vote wrongly.
“Don’t be led by money, don’t go for money and sell the future of your children. You have been neglected for the past years, so why are you being approached today with money?
“If you take these monies, you will suffer neglect in the next 7 years after the elections. Delegates, I have something good for you!”
