Mahama Delivers New Year Message, Vows Transformation

President-Elect John Dramani Mahama

President-Elect John Dramani Mahama has set an ambitious tone for his administration in a heartfelt New Year message to Ghanaians.

Speaking with optimism and resolve, he outlined his vision to reset Ghana’s economic trajectory, foster inclusivity, and fulfil the promises that earned him a decisive victory in the December 2024 general elections.

“Fellow citizens, my brothers and sisters, as we begin the new year 2025, Lordina and I wish each of you a year filled with a promise of a productive and prosperous 2025.

“We thank God for guiding our paths through the past year. I trust him to do something new in our lives. This year marks not merely the beginning of another chapter but a renewed promise to you”.

Central to his message was his commitment to tackling Ghana’s economic challenges head-on. Emphasizing his administration’s focus on economic transformation, he pledged to implement the 24-hour Economy Policy to expand job opportunities and drive growth.

“We will embark on a purposeful, enthusiastic, and enterprising journey to reset the Ghanaian economy for growth and jobs,” he stated. This policy, he explained, aims to position Ghana as an export-driven economy while fostering entrepreneurship and innovation.

By creating an enabling environment, he hopes to empower the youth to achieve their dreams without seeking opportunities abroad.

Lean Governance and Tackling Corruption

The President-Elect also signalled a departure from the practices of the outgoing administration, promising a government that prioritizes efficiency and accountability. “My vision for our great nation includes a lean, efficient government responsive to your aspirations,” he said.

He vowed to tackle corruption with “dogged determination,” reduce excessive government expenditures, and amplify citizens’ voices in governance. “Together, we’ll build a Ghana that reflects our collective hopes and dreams—the Ghana we all want and voted convincingly for,” he added.

Youth-Centric Development, Support for Business Owners and Entrepreneurs

President-Elect Mahama highlighted Ghana’s youth’s vital role in the nation’s future. “Your energy, creativity, and passion are vital to our future success,” he said.

Urging them to believe in their potential, he underscored his administration’s commitment to creating opportunities that allow them to thrive locally.

To the business community, President-Elect Mahama extended assurances of support and collaboration. He emphasised the need to remove bureaucratic barriers, streamline processes, and provide resources to enable businesses to grow.

“Together, we will build a Ghana of opportunities, equity, and shared success,” he asserted. The President-Elect ended his message on a high note, calling for unity and collective effort in achieving national goals.

He expressed optimism about fulfilling his campaign promises and building a transformative and prosperous Ghana.

“As we celebrate this new year, let us commit to working together hand in hand to achieve our goals and our dreams. I am upbeat about fulfilling my campaign promises knowing we can and will make a difference working together. And so here is to a transformative and prosperous 2025 for all of us.”

President-Elect John Dramani Mahama

As the nation prepares to usher in a new era under his leadership, President-Elect Mahama’s message inspires hope and determination, setting the stage for a transformative and inclusive governance approach in 2025.
