John Dramani Mahama, the NDC’s presidential candidate, has vowed to lead the opposition group in its effort to unseat the “failing” Akufo-Addo administration in the 2024 elections.
Speaking at the University of Development Studies in Tamale, John Dramani Mahama, who decisively won the NDC’s presidential primary on Saturday, argued that Ghana needed to be freed from the current administration right away to prevent the nation from being driven into a pit.
He urged every party member to work together to complete the monumental challenge of winning the 2024 elections. The NDC’s newly elected flagbearer also pledged to meet with all of the sitting lawmakers who were defeated in the party’s recent parliamentary primary. The afflicted MPs, according to him, are still party assets, and the party will need their extensive knowledge and resources to prevail in the general elections in 2024.
“There is hope for our country and I firmly believe in our collective ability as a party to lead the transformational agenda that restores decent values, revives youthful aspirations and ambitions.
“Ours will be a progressive government that provides equal opportunities for decent and sustainable livelihoods, and I am convinced that by working with Ghanaians, we shall turn Ghana’s hopelessness and gloom today to a better and brighter tomorrow.”

The former President also attacked the economic management for going to the International Monetary Fund for a bailout, after NPP’s policies caused the nation’s economy to collapse.
“Literally and figuratively, the government’s economic management team has displayed grave incompetence, mismanaged Ghana’s economy, and inflicted severe hardships on Ghanaians including the elderly and the young.”

Mahama Vows To Reinstate Bank Licenses That Were Unfairly Terminated
The licenses of the banks that, in the opinion of the former president John Dramani Mahama, were unfairly destroyed during the recapitalization process carried out by the Bank of Ghana (BoG), will be reinstated.
He said: “we shall promote robust, local participation in our banking and financial, telecommunication, tourism, mining and agric and manufacturing sectors to grow our economy and create sustainable employment for our youths.”
“We will restore indigenous Ghanaian investments in the finance and banking sector and we will create a tier banking system that will serve various segments of the market. We will give the opportunity to experience banking hands who were laid off needlessly to secure their careers once more and move away from the menial jobs that they were compelled to take.
“As far as practicable the banking licenses that were unjustly canceled by this government will be restored. Together with my team, we will enhance investor confidence in our country to attract domestic and foreign investors, especially in the manufacturing industry. This, we will do by being transparent and not concealing economic data such as the budget deficit public debt, and our net international reserves.”

The newly-elected NDC flagbearer stated that the governing party must begin drafting its handover notes and be ready to answer questions about its management of the country.
“Ours will be a progressive government that provides equal opportunities for decent and sustainable livelihoods. By working together with Ghanaians, we shall turn Ghana’s hopeless and gloom today into a better and brighter tomorrow.”

He also expressed his gratitude to the Electoral Commission (EC) for successfully overseeing and running the NDC’s presidential and parliamentary primaries.
