The Special Aide to Former President John Dramani Mahama, Joyce Bawah Mogtari has defended the National Democratic Congress 24-hour flagship policy proposal and reiterated the party and its flagbearer’s commitment to ensure the fruitful implementation of the policy when elected into office in 2025.
Reacting to Ace Investigative and Broadcast Journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni’s statement which questions the legitimacy and credibility of the plan of Mr Mahama’s flagship 24-hour policy, Madam Joyce Bawah Mogtari indicated that the various policies that have been announced by the National Democratic Congress and its flagbearer John Dramani Mahama are very unique as they are borne out of extensive research and discussion with relevant stakeholders in each sector.
She noted that the process of drafting the party’s policies for the 2024 general elections involved comprehensive consultation with various stakeholders including experts, unions, students, professors, parents, and non-teaching staff.
“With the example of the tertiary education policy, a committee of experts meets to discuss and hold meetings with these stakeholders to gather their views and opinions. These perspectives are then consolidated and analysed to form a proposal for the policy. Similarly, in the case of the 24-hour economy proposal, various stakeholders such as workers, managers, researchers, customers, and businessmen and women were consulted. The views of these stakeholders were then curated by experts from the NDC into a working document, which has been shared with the public”.

Madam Mogtari further asserted that the various policies of Mr Mahama and the National Democratic Congress are well-examined and thought-through policies taking into consideration the current state of the country which requires both short, medium, and long-term planning that is anchored on visionary leadership.
She thus admonished that any criticisms of the National Democratic Congress and Mr Mahama’s policies should take into account the extensive consultation process and research that was done before they were announced.
Furthermore, Madam Mogtari questioned why Mr Awuni ignored all the efforts the party has undertaken after the announcement of the various policies to give further explanations and clarifications, particularly with the 24-hour economy policy proposal.
According to her, various communicators of the National Democratic Congress including the party’s National Communications Officer, Mr Sammy Gyamfi have explained the party’s policies particularly the 24-hour economy policy to the public on multiple occasions, hence it was unjustifiable for Mr Awuni to have ignored them in his criticisms.
“It would have been more constructive for Manasseh to approach the NDC, especially the TUC, to understand the reason behind their endorsement of the 24-hour economy policy before criticising the policy and the TUC. Manasseh’s opinion is similar to that of an aide to Vice President Bawumia, who criticised the 24-hour economy proposal without realising that he was exposing the incompetence of his boss and the administration he is part of”.

Ghanaians Urged To Support NDC’s Campaign For Victory Ahead Of 2024 Polls
Moreover, Madam Mogtari urged Ghanaians to read the party’s published ‘frequently asked questions’ that provide comprehensive explanations of the 24-hour economy policy proposal as announced by the National Democratic Congress flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama.
She noted that despite the country’s current economic problems, it is important all Ghanaians support the National Democratic Congress and its flagbearer John Dramani Mahama to restore the country to the path of progress and development as Mr Mahama has demonstrated beyond reasonable doubt that he is a capable and a trustworthy leader.
“Despite the NPP’s mismanagement of the economy, we can work towards making this policy successful. The recently released FAQs highlight specific areas of demand, and with the right strategy and mindset, we can set the country on the right path to recovery. It is impossible to rely on the ‘trotro’ mate to take over from the troubles that his boss has driven us into.
“What we need is experience and not another experiment that will lead us to a ditch full of haircuts, reckless borrowing and spending, unnecessary taxes and not manufacturing, lies, intimidation, unbridled corruption, and all other negatives associated with Nana Addo and Bawumia. Manasseh should join hands with well-meaning Ghanaians to kick this arrogant and reckless government out of office. We have gone too far and cannot afford an extra day with the NPP in charge”.

According to Madam Mogtari, unlike the Vice President, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia who has failed to deliver his promises to Ghanaians for the past seven years, Mr Mahama is committed to addressing the challenges the county is facing with feasible and pragmatic policies like the 24 –hour economy policy.
