The National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has intimated that, the ‘flip-flops’ and disposition of the NDC flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama and the NDC shows that, he is confused, lacks ideas and is desperate for power.
Speaking during a press conference today,3rd December, 2020, in Accra, Mr. Boakye said that, the NDC is doing all that it can to gain power come December 7, as the nation goes to the polls.
Addressing the youth on the achievements of the NPP government, he posited that, due to the proper measures put into the education system, lots of benefits have been derived and a lot of good results have been achieved.
He indicated that, this year’s WASSCE results have been outstanding and described it as one of the best in the country so far.
“According to WAEC, 2020 is the only year in the last six years that, more than 50% of students scored A1 to C6 in all core subjects. And this is very impressive.”
He also indicated that, so far over 1.2 billion students have benefitted from the free education and SHS scheme brought about by the incumbent government and more are set to benefit from it.
He also revealed that, the NPP upon assumption of office had to clear the arrears left by the NDC in the education sector, hinting that, it was about Ghc30million.
Speaking on COVID-19 and the measures put in place by the government, he stated that, the President provided for the needy and the affected in the society as against the accusation by the opposition party that they were giving out freebies.
He added that on employment, about a hundred thousand persons have been employed under the NABCO programs and the Forestry plantation also employing 84,00o youth in Ghana.
Touching on the “FANINYINAA” policy by the NDC, which is projected to absorb all fees of first year university students, the youth organizer described it as a deceptive approach by the NDC.
“Ladies and gentlemen, this is an ill-conceived campaign promise, smuggled through the backdoor, to add up to the litany of failed and uninspiring manifesto promises.”
He referred to their last-minute upgrade of their manifesto promises as a means to revive their “drowning campaign” and also a “direct scam” seeking to downplay the intelligence of voters.
The National Democratic Congress, on Monday, 1st December said that, their government will absorb the full fees of the University students for 2021 if the party is given the mandate to rule the country again.
In a statement signed by its National Chairman, Mr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, it said the policy, christened: “Fa Ninyinaa” (take everything), was a recommendation by its Education policy group, which had been accepted and incorporated into its 2020 election manifesto as against the intial policy to absorb 50 per cent of the school fees of all tertiary students for the 2020/2021 academic year through the “kyempe” (share equally) policy, which will now apply to only continuing students.
