The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, has lamented that Ghana’s current leadership falls short of the selfless and visionary standards that Kwame Nkrumah embodied at the time of independence, instead characterized by a lack of credibility and patriotic fervor.
Fifi Kwetey pointed out that Ghana is grappling with a multitude of challenges, including a faltering economy, skyrocketing youth unemployment, and a steady decline in the quality of education and healthcare, which are all ominous signs of a nation in crisis.
Fifi Kwetey emphasized that the citizens of Ghana are suffocating under the weight of oppressive taxation, businesses are fighting for survival, and the morale and sense of pride of the Ghanaian people have plummeted to unprecedented lows, eroding the very fabric of the nation’s well-being.
“On July 1, 1960, Ghana became an independent republic, with Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah as its first president. This historic day marked the beginning of Ghana’s journey as a beacon of progress and a shining star of Africa. Today, however, the promise of those early years has been overshadowed by the failures of the current NPP administration”.

Moreover, Kwetey highlighted that during his extensive Listening Tour, the NDC’s flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, engaged with people from diverse backgrounds and socioeconomic sectors, intently listening to their concerns, struggles, and aspirations.
He revealed that John Mahama held extensive consultations with a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including civil society organizations, labor unions, women’s empowerment groups, youth organizations, and professional associations, demonstrating his commitment to understanding the diverse needs, concerns, and aspirations of the Ghanaian people.
Accordingly, Fifi Kwetey announced that the NDC, under the leadership of John Mahama, will soon unveil its comprehensive manifesto and retail campaign, detailing practical solutions and strategic initiatives aimed at addressing Ghana’s economic woes, restoring economic vitality, and driving the nation forward on a trajectory of sustainable growth and development.
Collective Effort Required To Rescue Ghana
Fifi Fiavi Kwetey emphasized that the quest to salvage Ghana from its current woes is a collective responsibility that requires a united effort, and the NDC cannot single-handedly achieve this goal, thereby calling on all stakeholders to join forces and collaborate towards a common objective of national redemption.
Fifi Kwetey made a passionate appeal to all Ghanaians, particularly the youth, women, and first-time voters, to join the NDC’s quest for national transformation, emphasizing that collective action is necessary to oust the incumbent Akufo Addo/Bawumia administration, which has failed to deliver on its promises and usher in a new era of genuine change and progress.
He warned that the NDC is cognizant of the ruling NPP’s increasingly desperate attempts to maintain its grip on power, and its blatant efforts to manipulate and undermine the democratic process, subverting the sovereign will of the Ghanaian people.
The NDC General Secretary urged the public to remain vigilant and proactive, reporting any dubious activities or suspicious maneuvers by the ruling party, as the NDC relies on the collective vigilance of the citizenry to ensure the integrity of the electoral process and prevent any potential subversion of the people’s will.
He emphasized that the NDC is dedicated to collaborating with the citizenry to guarantee a free, fair, and transparent electoral process, fostering an environment of trust, accountability, and inclusivity, where the voices and choices of all Ghanaians are respected and reflected in the outcome.
“Let us unite behind the NDC and wage a successful 2024 election campaign to bring about the change we seek. H.E. John Mahama is the leader Ghana needs. His vision for a prosperous, inclusive Ghana, combined with his unparalleled experience, makes him the ideal candidate. Under his previous tenure, he achieved significant improvements in infrastructure, healthcare, and education”.
“His administration was marked by transparency and accountability, demonstrating a genuine concern for the people. H.E. John Mahama embodies integrity, credibility, and a commitment to public service essential qualities to restore hope and drive meaningful change in Ghana”.

Fifi Fiavi Kwetey made a passionate plea to the electorate, imploring them to cast their ballots for John Mahama, in the name of God, patriotism, and the future of Ghana, beseeching them to shape the destiny of the nation, secure a brighter tomorrow for generations yet to come.
