Ghanaian actor Fred Nuamah, is lacing his boots to contest the parliamentary seat at Ayawaso West Wuogon on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). He will be the second celebrity to contest the seat after John Dumelo failed to beat Lydia Alhassan of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2020 elections.
Fred Nuamah, originally named, Frederick Kwaku Nuamah, is a Ghanaian actor, film director and a movie producer best known for his role in the movie The Game, Pool Party, Amakye and Dede, and many others. He is the founder and CEO of Ghana Movie Awards & Ghana TV series Awards, an annual award show that recognizes excellence in the Ghanaian film industry. Aside being a movie personality, he is notably known as a successful entrepreneur in the country.
The NDC is expected to hold its parliamentary and presidential elections on May 13, 2023. The National Democratic Congress opens its arms to anyone who is interested to pick up forms to enter into the race of the upcoming parliamentary primaries election. There is hope for popularly known individuals such as the actor.
News flooding social media, reveal that John Dumelo, and a few others will be contesting for the seat of Member of Parliament (MP) of Ayawaso West Wuogon on behalf of the NDC, with even student activists showing great interest in this competition.
Linda Assibi Awuni Also Joins The Race
A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Linda Assibi Awuni, has announced she will represent the party in the Adentan Constituency. She plans on competing against whomever will stand against her during the primaries for the NDC Adentan Parliamentary seat and in winning, progress to the next level of Presidential and Parliamentary Elections.
Linda Assibi Awuni is an intelligent and well adored woman, who holds a BSc. in Geological Engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. She also holds a post-graduate diploma in Project Management from the Galilee Institute of Management in Israel. Currently, she is the Managing Director of BOHA Engineering Limited, an indigenous company specialized in providing engineering solutions and services to industries across Ghana and beyond.
She seeks to follow the family trend of taking up positions in Parliament because her fathers’ shoes might fit perfectly. Her father was the first Assemblyman for Bentanaa-Manmomo Electoral area in the Adentan Constituency before it was carved out of Ashaiman. The engineer has communicated her plan to contest the position in the party’s upcoming parliamentary primaries scheduled for May 13, 2023.
In a statement announcing her intent, the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science And Technology (KNUST) alumni said her quest was “borne out of my resolve to ensure a better leadership for the Adentan Constituency and Ghana under H.E. John Dramani Mahama in 2025 and beyond.” Mrs. Awuni believed her contribution will be geared towards helping the opposition party secure election victory in 2024.
“Furthermore, with the support and prayers of the constituency executives, Council of Elders and the rank and file of the party and with hard work, I will lead the party to retain the seat of NDC in Adentan Constituency in the 2024 general elections.”
