Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Defense Minister

Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Director of Elections and IT, has warned that with 150 days remaining until the December 7th election, no individuals with political affiliations will be permitted to hold positions as Electoral Commission officers.

He highlighted that the upcoming December 7 elections, just 150 days away, will offer Ghanaians a chance to liberate themselves from the burdens of socioeconomic difficulties and shape a brighter future through their votes.

The NDC stalwart attributed the socioeconomic hardships to the ineptitude, corruption, and arrogance of the current Akufo-Addo-Bawumia-led NPP government, which has allegedly inflicted suffering on the people.

As such, Dr. Omane Boamah appealed to voters to elect John Dramani Mahama as their president, promising that his administration’s 24-hour economy initiative would create well-paying job opportunities for the citizens.

“Also, keep your EAGLEEYES on the Electoral Commission of Ghana including the interviews to select Technicians for the 2024 elections. These are the technicians expected to prepare the BVDs for elections on December 7”.

Dr. Edward Omane Boamah

He emphasized that, for instance, it is crucial that the Biometric Verification Device (BVD) is not connected to any network during the voting process to ensure the integrity of the election.

Dr. Omane Boamah also urged the public to verify that the Biometric Verification Devices (BVDs) are configured to only allow biometric authentication of voters at their designated polling stations, preventing any potential misuse.

He cautioned that if the BVDs are not properly configured, it could lead to a breach, allowing voters from other areas to be verified, which would compromise the credibility of the election and cast a shadow of doubt on its integrity.

Dr. Omane Boamah expressed concern and frustration that some Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) kits and Biometric Verification Device (BVD) equipment remain unaccounted for, a situation he deemed deeply worrying and potentially threatening to the integrity of the electoral process.

Parliament To Investigate Missing BVDs And BVRs

Furthermore, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah further noted that the NDC’s petition has led to Parliament taking steps to probe the alleged disappearance of BVDs and BVRs.

He noted that this is a development that could shed light on the matter and help to restore public trust in the electoral system.

“This being the case, the selection of EC Technicians is as important as choosing Returning Officers, Presiding Officers, Ballot Issuers, etc. We are keenly following the EC’s process with our EagleEyes in order to ensure transparency and fairness”.

Dr. Edward Omane Boamah

Dr. Omane Boamah reaffirmed his position that no individual with political affiliations or biases will be permitted to hold a permanent or temporary position as an officer of the Electoral Commission, ensuring the commission’s impartiality and independence.

He urged citizens to elect John Mahama, a leader with a proven track record of vision, experience, and integrity, as their next President, to repair and revitalize Ghana’s ailing economy and put the country back on the path to prosperity.

Dr. Omane Boamah made a passionate appeal to Ghanaians to reject the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ticket, characterized by arrogance and incompetence, and instead choose a leadership that truly serves the people’s interests.

He reassured voters that their ballots would be safeguarded and their voices heard, promising a secure and transparent electoral process that would uphold the integrity of their choices.

As the election draws near, the NDC has consistently urged the Electoral Commission (EC) to ensure a transparent and impartial electoral process.

The opposition emphasized the need for a process free from partisan influences, which is crucial for safeguarding Ghana’s democracy.

The NDC’s persistent reminders aim to prevent any potential manipulation or bias that could compromise the integrity of the election, thereby ensuring a free and fair poll that truly reflects the will of the Ghanaian people.
