General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has questioned the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) lack of innovative ideas to transform the lives of the ordinary Ghanaian.
Speaking at the Upper West Regional Annual Delegate Conference, he explained that social interventions programme under the opposition, NDC, have all been executed by the NPP administration.
“If you take the initiatives that have happened in this country, you can mention about 96% credited to the NPP, including Free SHS, 1D1F, one village-one dam, school feeding program amongst other. Sometimes you ask yourself so when they [NDC] come to power what really comes to their mind”.

In a bid to justify his stance, Mr Boadu cited the National Identification project initiated under the Kuffuor administration. He argued despite the progress of the policy prior to the exit of the President, the NDC on assuming office in 2009, collapsed the project before their exit in 2017.
“We came back in 2017 and you can see what we have done so far. NDC is incapable of managing the economy and do not have the ideas to move this country forward”.

The NPP General Secretary highlighted the need for the NPP to break the eight years electoral cycle. Mr Boadu noted that the return of the NDC to power would wear down the gains achieved under the current administration.
“These are the reasons why as a party we need to break our backs to make sure that the achievements and the gains that the President has chalked over the 5 years is not destroyed by the ‘National Destruction Party’. It is important that we do that, because if we do not, we will go back to the same problems”.

School feeding for private schools
In highlighting the gains of the ruling government, Mr Boadu disclosed that it will extend the school feeding programme to all private schools across the country starting from the 2021/2022 academic year.
Addressing NPP supporters at the Upper West Regional Annual Delegate Conference, he revealed that government is resolute to extend the programme to all private schools across the country.
The School Feeding Programme is designed by government to increase enrolment in schools especially in the rural areas. As such, there have been calls on government to expand the programme and extend it to private schools.
“The next academic year, we are going to make sure that all private schools in the country enjoy the school feeding programme. This is something that the only New Patriotic Party government can do”.

In September this year, Ghana National School Feeding Caterers Association appealed to the Government to increase the feeding fees by 50%.
Public Relations Officer of GNSFCA, Mrs Caroline Aboagye, stated that the increase would go a long way to help the caterers prepare sumptuous and more nutritious meals for the pupils.
Mrs Aboagye explained that the Association was concerned about the welfare of their members, hence, the need for the government to make prompt payment of the second term feeding fee.
That notwithstanding, she commended President Nana Akufo-Addo and Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection for their timely intervention in settling the first term arrears of the caterers of the Ghana School Feeding Programme.
