Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, a candidate for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearership, has declared that he is unconcerned with the massive crowds that have accompanied other candidates’ submission of nomination forms.
After submitting his paperwork at the party headquarters on Monday June 19, Dr. Akoto explained that he opted to bring only the essential members of his campaign team, rather than busing in supporters.
Dr. Akoto thanked his constituency Chairmen and delegates for coming to the party headquarters on their own initiative to support him. He also urged his followers to continually stay committed to the goal of electing him as the NPP’s flagbearer.
“Let me say here that everybody who has come here including representatives of farmers, are here on their own accord. You cannot see any bused crowd or any big commercial vehicle bringing people to come and support.
“People have come on their own volition and own conviction that my candidature will be good for the people of Ghana and the NPP and I am very grateful.”

Afriyie Akoto Calls For Unity OF NPP Members In Order To ‘Break The 8’
Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, a former Minister of Food and Agriculture, claims that for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to ‘break the 8’ in December 2024, everyone must be on board.
“You cannot break the 8 with half an egg,” he said on Monday, June 19.
“It has to be the full egg and everybody in this party is important in this respect, especially the delegates who have been given the constitutional powers to choose a flagbearer of this party.”

The former Kwadaso Member of Parliament (MP) who spoke at the party’s headquarters where he submitted his nomination forms for the upcoming presidential primaries, pledged to follow the ground rules and urged his rivals to do the same in the run-up to the primaries.
Nevertheless, he expressed confidence that, after all the campaigning, the delegates would support him fully and make him the flagbearer of the NPP for the upcoming elections in 2024.
“I hope that at the end of the day, we will be given the opportunity for delegates to listen to us and make the right choice so that this party can retain power come 2024.”

However, on Monday, June 19, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) elections committee rejected Dr. Konadu Apraku, a former Minister of trade, for submitting a form for presidential nomination that was not satisfactory.
Dr. Apraku went to the party headquarters in Accra to turn in his forms, but the committee discovered that they were incomplete after careful inspections were conducted.
According to reports, Dr. Apraku neglected to include in the paperwork he planned to present on Monday, June 19, his own accomplishments and his contribution to the party. Dr. Apraku’s team members disclosed that they will either return on Friday or on Saturday to submit his nomination paperwork.
