Alhaji Ibrahim Kaleem, a member of the Northern Regional Communications Team, has disclosed that he has not received any official letter of his suspension from the Northern Regional Communications Team.
According to him, although he does not doubt the authenticity of the letter, he has not seen or had the privilege of reading it.
Mr Kaleem’s comments follow the decision by the Northern Regional Communications Directorate of the NPP to indefinitely suspend him for an alleged public declaration of support for Trades Minister, Alan Kyerematen.
“Well I did not see anything like that. But a lot of people told me they saw it from Facebook, others said they saw it on other WhatsApp platforms. I did not set my eyes on it… I have not been served officially”.
Mr Kaleem
Mr Kaleem insisted that if the party has decided to suspend him from the Communication team, they are expected to serve him a letter personally, as such he deem it unnecessary to verify the claims of the letter with his Director of Communications.
“I am one of the leading communicators in town. So, if they are suspending me just write a letter, give it to me and if I take that letter, I would know that I have been suspended from the communications team”.
Mr Kaleem
Justifying his innocence in the matter, Mr Kaleem noted that the claims leading to his suspension are false and “absolutely lies”.
That notwithstanding, he conceded to the fact that he was present at an event organized by ‘Friends of Alan’ to chronicle the achievements of Alan Kyerematen as Trades Minister but never campaigned for him.
“It’s absolutely lies. It’s not true. The program was organized by ‘Friends of Alan’ and I happened to go there every Tuesday and it’s not about campaigning. It’s talking about Alan’s Ministry, what he has done, the factories and other things that he has done so, it’s absolutely lies”.
Mr Kaleem
Mr Kaleem accused the party leaders of flouting the same rules for which he has been sanctioned.
Reacting to Mr Kaleem’s argument, Communication Director of the NPP, Mohammed Sherrif, corroborated the former’s assertion that an official letter had not been sent from the party.
He indicated that the letter was drafted and signed to be sent to Mr Kaleem, however the person tasked to do it “unfortunately had difficulty getting to him and in this particular text world, as the letter got to the system, I got to realize that it got to the social media platforms before it got to Alhaji”.
Suspension of two regional NPP communication team members
On January 6, 2022, two members of the Northern Regional Communication Team for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) were slapped with an indefinite suspension.
The two, Alhaji Ibrahim Kaleem and Dawda Jentuma were believed to be team members of Trade’s Minister Alan Kyerematen and said to have “advanced the campaign of a purported flagbearer aspirant”.
Contained in a statement signed by the Director of Communications for the Northern Region, Mohammed Sheriff Ibrahim, it revealed that Mr. Kaleem’s participation in the radio program is in clear “violation of the directive issued by the Northern Regional Chairman of the NPP for party people to cease, among others all media engagements purporting to campaign for flagbearer hopefuls”.
The regional communication team noted that, jingles played, words used among others on the said program brings the name of the party and government functionaries into disrepute.
“Any person who deals with Alhaji Ibrahim Kaleem as a member of the Northern Regional Communications Team does so at their own risk”.
Mohammed Sheriff Ibrahim
