Boakye Kyeremateng Agyarko, a revered stalwart of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and a former minister of energy, has called for swift action to address what he describes as a concerning departure from the party’s ongoing Thank You Tour’s original goal.
Long seen as a strong voice within the NPP, Mr. Agyarko voiced his profound concern over the events surrounding the tour, cautioning that it is quickly turning into a source of internal strife rather than a unifying factor for the party.
“The ongoing Thank You Tour, envisioned as a beacon of hope and a rallying point to reignite the spirit of our faithful and supporters, is unfortunately veering off course.
“What was intended to restore our party’s shine and reconnect us with the grassroots is instead unraveling into bouts of discord, blame-shifting, and internal strife.

He pointed out that the tour runs the risk of undermining the NPP’s hard-won goodwill and trust among Ghanaians, rather than bringing back the party’s luster and strengthening member solidarity.
Mr. Agyarko claims that if immediate action is not taken to reverse this unfortunate turn of events, it could seriously harm the foundation of the opposition New Patriotic Party.
Call to Action
Mr Agyarko called on the leadership of the opposition New Patriotic Party to take “swiftly and decisively” action to stop the increasing division.
He underlined that a “carefully recalibrated approach” is required to realign the tour with its original purpose, underscoring the urgent need to “apply the brakes” and reevaluate the tour’s direction.
“We must pull back from what increasingly looks like an imminent collision course and chart a path that upholds the unity, dignity, and forward-looking spirit of our tradition”.

He further advocated for a renewed focus on fostering “genuine reconciliation, solidarity, and purposeful engagement,” suggesting that the current dynamics, if left unchecked, could imperil the very mission the Thank You Tour set out to achieve.
“Let us seize this moment to renew our collective resolve and ensure that the mission of the Thank You Tour is accomplished in a manner worthy of our party’s proud legacy”.

As the NPP prepares for its upcoming internal elections, rivalries have become more apparent due to post-election grievances, leadership disputes, and conflicting goals.
Mr Agyarko’s remarks seem to be a warning to party leaders to avoid using the Thank You Tour as a venue for escalating public division and airing of internal disputes.
Given its tone and the weight of Mr. Boakye Agyarko’s position within the party, his message could potentially serve as a rallying cry for restraint and harmony.
It is his hope that the Thank You Tour can be saved and repurposed to achieve its admirable goals and put an end to the divisions that may have an impact on the NPP’s future.
