The Committee on Roads and Transportation has undertaken a crucial working visit to the rehabilitation and upgrading site at the Kasoa-Winneba stretch in the Central Region and the Adenta-Dodowa road in the Greater Accra Region.
These inspections are part of ongoing efforts to enhance the road infrastructure in Ghana, ensuring better connectivity and safety for commuters. The delegation was led by the Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Kennedy Osei Nyarko, who is also the Member of Parliament for Akim Swedru in the Eastern Region. The visit aimed to assess the progress of the ongoing projects, address any challenges, and ensure that the work is on schedule.

At the Kasoa-Winneba stretch, the Committee was briefed by the Project Manager of MM Delovely Company Limited, Ing. Stephen Tawiah. He informed the delegation that the project was commissioned on March 29, 2024, and is expected to be completed within 36 months.
The project is being executed by the Ghanaian construction company and is fully funded by the Government of Ghana through the Ministry of Roads and Highways.
The Chief Director of the Ministry of Roads and Highways, Ing. Dr. Abass Awolu, also addressed the Committee, emphasizing that individuals affected by the project had been evaluated and compensation would be paid to them. This assurance was crucial in maintaining the support and cooperation of the local communities, whose properties and livelihoods might be impacted by the construction activities.
The Committee’s next stop was the Adenta-Dodowa road, where they inspected the Design Build Dualization project of the R40 road, spanning 22 kilometers. The Director of Projects of Oswal Investment Limited, Ing. Rosby Kone-Mensah, provided an update on the progress. He reported that the project had been advancing steadily, with significant milestones already achieved.
“The company has successfully removed and demolished temporary structures and replaced all roadside drains. Despite facing challenges, particularly due to encroached properties within the reservation area, we have made substantial progress.”

The dualization of this road is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion and enhance the overall traffic flow between Adenta and Dodowa.

Hon. Kennedy Osei Nyarko, after inspecting the two projects, expressed his satisfaction with the progress made so far. He acknowledged the efforts of the contractors and the dedication of the workforce in ensuring that the projects stay on track. However, he also urged the contractors to expedite their work to further ease traffic congestion, which has been a major concern for commuters.
Hon. Osei Nyarko also addressed the issue of compensation for affected individuals. He stressed, “The government must promptly pay all outstanding compensation to avoid any potential litigation.” Ensuring timely compensation is not only a matter of fairness but also crucial for maintaining the goodwill and cooperation of the affected communities.
The Committee’s visit underscored the government’s commitment to improving road infrastructure across the country.
