In his final State of the Nation Address, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo reflected on his administration’s significant accomplishments across key sectors of Ghana’s economy.

Delivered to Parliament, the address highlighted milestones in infrastructure, agriculture, energy, governance, and youth development, emphasizing the transformative impact of his policies.

President Akufo-Addo underscored his government’s achievements in the railway sector, which had been a key focus of his administration. He stated;

“We have revitalized Ghana’s railway sector, undertaking key projects to modernize and expand the network. Notable achievements include the rehabilitation of the 66-kilometer narrow gauge Western Line from Kojokrom to Tarkwa and the construction of the 22-kilometer standard gauge line between Kojokrom and Manso.”

In addressing housing, President Akufo-Addo shared strides made to tackle Ghana’s housing deficit. He remarked;

Additionally, the president stated that 1,000 homes were delivered to the security services, with 600 more underway for public servants through the redevelopment program.

The construction of a modern port at Keta and initiatives to enhance the country’s logistics infrastructure were also acknowledged.

President Akufo-Addo lauded his administration’s investment in agriculture and the Energy sector, which has driven significant growth to the country. On agriculture he stated;

“Through the distribution of over 2.7 million bags of fertilizers and improved seedlings, we have increased crop yields and enhanced food security. Maize production increased by 110%, rice by 48%, and soybean by 150% between 2017 and 2023.”

Despite inheriting an energy sector legacy debt of $2.5 billion, strategic negotiations and financial management prevented it from ballooning to $12.5 billion, stabilizing the sector while maintaining uninterrupted power supply.

Renewable energy projects such as the 4 MW solar PV plant at Bui and the 15 MW solar PV facility at Kaleo were milestones in achieving Ghana’s 10% renewable energy target by 2030.
